The only thing wrong with this was that new characters lacked a sense of personality, a problem that would have been less obvious with michael involved. Like the elder was a mirror image of viktor for some reason. Then there was the hybrid daughter's lack of backstory - an emphasis on being a prisoner/ being feared would have been good, and the story generally didn't have anywhere to go, but if it sets up a true finale with selene and michael returning, then this can be viewed as a triumph. Good movie, just try and enjoy it.
Seems like a lot of good movies this weekend. I won't even bother to spend 10 bucks on the new Underworld. About 80 minutes without credits is a giant slap in the face. Will just wait for the dollar theater.
Going to see Red Tails and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close this week. They look like good movies.
@ROFLitschristian - Damn the first Underworld was the best one, If you don't really like that one then yea the Underworld franchise just isn't for you. But that's not a bad thing, everybody has their own taste. But you really should finish watching the 1st Underworld, you really have to watch and finish that one inorder to tell what is going on in Rise Of The Lycans. So maybe if you do that then Rise Of The Lycans won't be so bad I guess.
@Number1Wolverine I've never taken much liking to Underworld. Couldn't ever finish Underworld, kind of liked Underworld 2, but Rise of the Lycans was so horrible! Just can't find anything good in this series.
@dan1 Agreed. I don't think I've seen all 3 previous films, and the ones I did see I didn't like them. But I admit I enjoyed this one. Kate Beckinsale in a tight shiny black outfit kicking non-stop ass in IMAX 3D? One ticket please.
I also got to see a screening of Red Tails which was as terrible (maybe even worse) as I expected, and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close which was very good.
@Number1Wolverine -- I'm not really, but I love the look of the movie. I watched bits of them on television, and liked it. I'll definitely let you know when I watch them, man.
@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx - If you are a vampire/werewolf fan you should defiantly check them out , and when you do I look forward to hearing what you think of them :).
@Number1Wolverine -- Figures. I haven't seen any of them, but I can tell by the ratings/trailers that they're not nearly as bad. Doesn't make them any good, either. I really need to see them to make my opinion completely valid.
@ROFLitschristian - Movies have been going downhill since 2006, or atleast for me it has. And Underworld was pretty good, Haywire looks ok but that's something I can wait to see on dvd.
@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx - The Underworld franchise is nowhere near bad as the Resident Evil franchise, the first movie in the franchise alone tops all of the Resident Evil movies.
