@themoviefanatic when i said that i wasn't thinkin about how soon it actually came out. r there review already? and yeah i meant reviews for b4 it comes out and word of mouth after.
@dan1 - it will be an interesting battle come the 26th, but seeing as how Panda 1 outperformed Hangover 1, and it's a family film, the winner is obvious :P
Not that it really matters. They'll both do phenomenal.
I agree with Supes, Pirates4 will only own this weekend, like you also pointed out the reviews have been somewhat average to lower than average(I expect it to reach 50% or lower on the rotten tomatoes meter). Next week it will be a battle for #1 between Hangover2 and Kung Fu Panda2, I think Pirates4 will take a huge plunge, on one miner disagreement I don't think it'll be lucky enough to be at #1, regardless Of who's #1, expect Hangover2 and Kung Fu Panda2 to be the top highest grossing openings next week.
It'll only have one weekend. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. The reviews are not looking good on it. Come on, the sequel to the most overrated comedy, like EVER? Pirates will walk the plank 2nd weekend, guaranteed.
@dan1 Brad Pitt is my favorite actor. And it was his classic drama films from the 90's like A River Runs Through It and Legends of the Fall that made him my favorite and Tree of Life looks like it'll be something good for him. :)
@dan1 I still need to see the first Kung Fu Panda movie. No, I haven't seen it. Sue me. :P But, as of right now, I'll be seeing Hangover 2 that weekend. And if I see something else, it'll be Tree of Life.
@corey Not to mention the pirates franchise is growing stale, whereas Panda and Hangover (but more so Panda) are still fresh for a lot of people. That will go a long ways for them.
@dan1 Exactly. @sean With a children's movie and a sequel to the biggest comedy in recent memory, Pirates will get slapped right out of the number 1 spot. Sorry.
@diaigma I fully agree with you and support the idea of an "anticipation meter"; it has always bothered me when I see a film rated by individuals that have yet to see it, and base the rating on trailers, word of mouth or news articles. How about it Movieweb? How about setting up an anticipation meter of some sort.
@corey haha no i won't even rent that movie. I have no desire to see it at all.
@themoviefanatic this is where i do agree with screeny though, i think the combination of Hangover 2 and Kung Fu Panda 2 will knock Pirates out of the one spot after its first week. the only way it won't is if Pirates get phenomenal reviews and word of mouth, then maybe.

Yes, there are reviews for this movie already. I'm sure that once it's released to theaters, there will be more reviews for it.

That's not true, about there being only a few scenes worth the 3D. The whole movie was filmed in 3D .

@themoviefanatic I'm just saying. There are only a few scenes worth the 3D, so I've read.

I'd rather see it in 3D, because it was filmed in 3D.

And Pirates 4 has zero chance of being #1 during memorial weekend. It'll get it's one weekend at top, and then shuffle on down to #3 the next week.

@diaigma That would be hilarious to me if Panda 2 ended up beating Hangover 2 for Memorial weekend. The race between those 2 should be close.
