@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx I agree. I've never heard of Metacritic, but those examples you cited are horrendous.

seriously... why would people give that film money... now they will probably make a damn sequel and plan ahead for its crappy remake!!!

@thedude-abides -- I'm in the same boat. It's still nice to get an idea on how a movie will turn out, especially if you never heard of it before.

@moviegeek -- It's not April Fool's Day, yet, man. No need to joke around. "Duma" is one of the all-time highest rated movies on there, and that movie was just "okay". I know I have yet to see "Ginger Snaps", but I'm pretty sure it doesn't deserve 9.5/10. And the fact that "Save The Last Dance", "Love & Basketball", and "Hard Ball" are all in the all-time highest scoring movies column, doesn't help your stance. As a finishing blow, Modern Family has a higher rating (first season) than Breaking Bad.

    Metacritic sucks ba......

    Plain and simple.

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx No doubt. I just prefer my own scale above anyone else's. Less biased.

The Possession definitely has me interested, however sadly I did not contribute to any of those box office numbers this past weekend.

Metacritic is way more accurate. Rotten tomatoes can suck it. Lawless was a big disappointment. Nothing new I want to see until trouble with the curve.

@thedude-abides -- It's a flawed system, definitely. But, it's one of the more (slightly) accurate sources - besides IMDb, of course. Again, both sources aren't great, but they give you a good example of what to expect(most of the time). That, and they don't suck nearly as bad as Metacritic. Now, that one is just a complete mess.

Sad news out of Hollywood, actor Michael Clarke Duncan passed away. I'm sure MW will get around to posting it sometime today.

Of course the Possesion is on top....I think movie goers are looking for a decent horror movie since this summer has had about ZERO good ones in theaters. I heard it was creepy but damn I wanted Lawless to come out on top.

@thedude-abides Agreed. Lawless was great and as much as I loved the Avengers, I'm glad it didn't crack the top 10 with its money-grabbing scheme.

That's exactly why RT holds no weight with me whatsoever. A 65% rating for Lawless, which is easily one of the best films to come out thus far this year.

Surprising. At least Rises broke the billion dollar mark, with a few more millions than it's sequel and still holding it's ground. Good to see Lawless is the second spot at least.
