I wish the Help would take a break from being so popular, let the other releases have a shot for a while

@bawnian-dexeus -- Aren't the ticket prices a little too high to be watching films like "Shark Night"? Aha. I personally felt it was a must-see comedy when it's released on DVD/Blu-Ray.

I haven't seen Fright night, but I heard that it's actually pretty good...the only reason why it failed at the Box Office is the way they marketed the film; it was all wrong and their wasn't enough promotions for the movie, hence, the reason why it is doing so poor right now.

Colombiana doesn't deserve spot 2 (in my opinion), I really didn't like it at all. Glad to see Crazy,Stupid,Love still in the top ten, its #10 but still glad to see it there. I'm still looking forward to Moneyball, Drive, Ides of March, and much more for 011.

Well, obviously I'm going to watch the Debt this week, but then I'd have to choose between Apollo 18 and Shark Night for Tuesday. or maybe I'll do another double feature

Wow! Never thought The Help would be that good, yet alone make this much $$$

Don't Be Afraid of the Dark - is not horror movie more like a fantasy film,.. saw it this weekend, didnt scare me at all,.. false advertising with the trailers..

The Help is on fire. i was indeed a great film and I am amazed that it is still so high up. I thought Columbiana would push it down just for being an action film with a hot actress in the lead.

@ejk1 I agree that this summer has been better than last summer.
But that's not saying much. 2010 had a terrific second half. 2011 has a jury that's still out on that. Time will tell. I loved 2009.

Another weedy box office. I have a feeling no movie is going to make a really strong showing in the next month except Contagion, and (maybe) Three Musketeers and Footloose.

I don't think anyone expected The Help to make this much bank. It has to be amazing based on it's 3 weekend wins.

@danikramer So you've mentioned...in exactly the same way on every other film in the top ten.

@bawnian-dexeus @moviegeek I didn't see Bridesmaids or Horrible Bosses, but I know that many liked both films. The point is, unlike last summer, which was Inception and......anyways, the Summer of 2011 was much better

@cripple Agree 100 percent. Very good horror movie.

@bawnian-dexeus Crazy, isn't he? @ejk1 lol
@Zoidcite-Jai I was referring just to this weekend, but I agree that 2011 has been rather paltry. I would highly recommend maybe 9 or 10 movies so far this year. But that's not very many.

Don't Be Afraid of the Dark was incredible, hope more people go out to see it.

@Zoidcite-Jai I think @moviegeek meant for this week only. There have been far more films this summer worth seeing than last year. Thor, Cap, X-Men, Super 8, Apes, Bridesmaids, Horrible Bosses, and even Transformers: DOTM have been worthy or more than worthy summer fare.

@moviegeek I totally agree with you 2011 has been the worst for movies. Only 2 movies have been worth seeing.

Lowest box office weekend of the year? Hurricane or no hurricane, that's what you get Hollywood when you don't churn out anything worth seeing.
9 months agoby @moviegeekFlag
ejk1
Not a big number, but that's to be expected when hurricanes come calling. Also, a 66% for Idiot Brother shouldn't get it a rotten mark.
