@youngrizo Just saw battleship and must say youhit the nail on the head. It wasn't horrible as most others are making it sound but it definitely wasn't great. Its way below Revenge of the fallen standards if you ask me.

"The Hunger Games" was so Over-Rated. Predictable...bland...drab...and not that entertaining...!

That said, I'm still a fan of Michael Bay because I though he finally got it right with Dark of the Moon.

Also, actors, directors, writers all have at least one stinker in their career, this is Peter Berg's first in my opinion so I'll give him a pass :)

It is a popcorn movie, but even by popcorn movie standards it asks you to give up too much. It has as much lack of Logic as Revenge of The Fallen.

I'm surprised The Avengers didn't take in more this weekend, but I still think it can beat MIB3, there's no way MIB3 is taking 60 mil.

@youngrizo I agree 100% with your Battleship comment. I didn't hate it as much as I thought I would, it was probably as good (or bad) as TF2 or 3 anyway. My worst fear was that Rihanna would say "You sunk my Battleship" but luckily she only got a few one-liners that weren't that bad and didn't get much attention. I was a little disappointed that the Hong Kong scene was so short.

@superman81 And yes, those wounded vets were actually vets.

It's also interesting to see how one of these blockbusters will perform without the aid of 3D or IMAX sales.

So I take it that Battleship wasn't that great, huh? I haven't sen it yet but from the trailers alone, it didn't look like a movie that was made to make you think and wonder and enjoy every aspect. It's a popcorn movie if you ask me- made strictly to entertain via action and special effects.

And I already called it that The Avengers wouldn't be trumped by them. The Avengers hype still continues through word of mouth and repeat viewers. BUT... it will fall to #2 next week when MIB3 is released. It just is what it is.

To comment on Battleship though. It wasn't the worst movie ever. It just wasn't above 'good' and even that I feel is a stretch.

The whole movie I couldn't help but be annoyed that Taylor Kitsch and Liam Neeson had the worst written dialogue, while lesser characters in smaller roles seemed to have dialogue more fitting and logical.

There were at least a few times in the movie where a few characters reacted to the idea of Aliens like it was not an issue that should at least scare them a bit. There were characters actively trying to get into hand to hand combat with Alien Characters, without knowing their capabilities or having any idea what they were.

There were illogical things like Alien ships so advanced they can travel that far across Space, create a barrier that effectively locks the Hawaiian Islands down, and destroy entire ships in a few seconds of fire. Yet they have regular glass on their bridge that 50 Cal sniper rifles can shoot through?

Also I like the nod to the vets but it just was a disservice to the film in parts, don't show me 70/80something year old men firing big ass machine guns on a 70 year old ship.

and last but certainly not least...

A ship drifting in water like it's a racecar? I had no idea I was watching Tokyo Drift 2, might as well have thrown in Bow wow as the main character's sidekick

Not to sound racist but I think a lot of "suburban" people went to see Battleship.... lol

LMAO! so much hate for a movie that seemed to never really have a chance of beating Avengers anyways. But God forbid another movie actually make some money and out do the mighty Avengers. Battleship was made for to only entertain, not win any awards. Whats even more funny is people who claimed it was not going to be any good and are saying it wasnt any good now are the ones who took the time and money to go see it. And next weekend it will be the same story, MIB was f*ing terrible, I wish Avengers had beat it. But it wont because MIB will beat it based on the fact that Avengers has dropped 50% or more each weekend and it would take an absolute MIRACLE for MIB to not make more than 25-30 million.

Disappointed for Battleship, I was surprised that the film was actually quite good in its genre. You could definitely tell it was a Peter Berg film, too.
I think it's really just bad luck that it released when The Avengers is still going strong. It's kinda sad for Taylor Kitsch's career, but I think he will just make smaller movies and find success there.

@ghostman Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if MIB3 fell that low. About two weeks ago it was tracking just above 80 million dollars and is now under 70.

Funny when you really think about it. Avengers dropped around 50% each weekend yet won all three consecutively! Unfortunately, thanks to that trend, it'll flop to something as sh*tty as MIB3...

  25. Cheetoboy

Once again congrats to the Avengers on still remaining #1, but MIB3 will definitely be #1 next week, I expect that to gross within $55-$70 million on Memorial day weekend, its been 4 years since Will Smith had a movie, but he is still considered a Mega Star.

@2movieguys yea I saw it Saturday and it had a very good turn out. it wasn't a bad movie at all. some parts did drag out but it was good to see them honor old vets in the movie. I'm not sure if those wounded soldiers were actual military or not. I think the movie was good for what it was. no the story wasn't new or great but it was good seeing people stand up for earth and lay it to some actually humanoid looking aliens with some bad ass war ships.

The Avengers save us again for another weekend from bad movie movies! (Dark Shadows, Battleship) Thankfully when I saw the those two, I didn't have to pay. No one should.
