still havnt seen GL but i have to see it. I just have to. most of the reviewers i agree with felt it was medicore at best but i still want to see for myself.
I should have trusted my gut feelings when they had the "overhaul" special effects AFTER the trailer was already out! Maybe we can get a really good Flash movie later down the line.
I would give: "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" a B+ ...A lot better than I expected ..worth the movie $$ ....better than Part 3... Left some answered questions.!.
@shuabert @k-man I think you guys will be pleased to hear that Goldenberg's the ONLY writer hired to write the sequel. So, God-willing this one continues to do well, all Warner needs to do is hire a solid director and the sequel should be great.
I skipped "Green Lantern" ...got tired of the hype..and with the 3 trailers...I have felt I already saw the film ....I went to see "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" instead!
@shuabert I think that of they make a sequel, they'll make sure it's better, if it really is as bad as people say it is. and by people, I mean critics, because everyone I've talked to (ALOT OF PEOPLE) have said that it was amazing.
Here's the deal, we all know how f*cking amazing of a movie it could be. I haven't seen it yet, don't believe the critics, I feel like seeing it and judging it personally. But there is a sequel coming, and you guys saw that after creds scene. The majority of the criticts downed it, and the producers will litsen. There will hopefully be a sequel, and damn do I know that the sequel would appeal to more people.
@shuabert - That is true about Goldenberg......I loved Order of the Phoenix and Contact. However, like you said, it wasn't just him writing.....he was only one of SEVEN!! and apparently it showed.
The thing is, Green Lantern should have been one of the comic movies that really worked, not the complete opposite. There is so much to work with and so many directions to go.....I'm amazed they took a route that ended up a disaster.
@k-man Well, Michael Goldenberg wrote some really good movies (Order of the Phoenix and Contact), but it's always troubling when there are a handful of names with writing credits, especially when three out of the four have pretty much their only experience on failed TV series.
What's more surprising is a case like X-Men: Wolverine, which, given David Benioff, should have been really good.
everyone I talked to saw Green Lantern and like me they thought it was good wasnt great by any means the script was not that tight, it seemed derivative at times and the editing was way off why did they cut out so many scenes? it was worth a watch and Ryan Reynolds carries the whole movie if a sequel is greenlit they better fix everything: pacing, Oa, and more action
I haven't seen Green Lantern, nor am I going to now that my prediction came true and it sucks the big one.....however, I actually wanted it to be good. SOOOO......I'm hoping this first installment makes enough to secure a sequel that they can actually do RIGHT next time.....but at the same time I want the movie to suffer because the studios deserve to lose money for not hiring decent writers on this the first time round. They need to learn their lesson that story comes first and that comic books films NEED to take themselves seriously!!!
Its a tough call but, either way, I'm not spending a dime on this......not after what I've read about it.
I called the top 3, predicting that Jim Carrey wouldn't have the box office pull to beat Super 8's positive word of mouth. Green Lantern made about the same as X-Men First Class, but that's less impressive when one considers the higher 3D ticket price. Assuming Green Lantern sticks around for a few weeks, it will undoubtedly make back its budget, but I don't think this was the success WB was hoping for. Do you think there will be enough interest to warrant a sequel? Campbell has already said he won't direct if they do another, but that's never stopped a studio before.
@combatmadness360 Yeah no one can really keep track of when they are going to release TF3. First it was July 1st, then June 29th, and announced the other day the 28th. And that was all within a month. Within the next few days they will announce it will be released this weekend.
@daveactor7 Dude, you're still tagging myself and @dan1 using the old rules. We can't tell when you're tagging us unless you use our entire username, lol. Get with the program, man.
