A pilot based on DC Comics' obscure franchise Booster Gold has been ordered by Syfy.

This one-hour superhero drama will follow the adventures of a failed athlete from the future who decides to travel to our present in order to be the greatest superhero of all time. Instead of chasing criminals, though, Booster Gold would rather chase fame and fortune. Problems arise when he realizes that his future won't exist if he continues to neglect his calling as a costumed vigilante.

Greg Berlanti's Berlanti Productions is moving forward on the pilot alongside Warner Horizon Television. Andrew Kreisberg, who collaborated on Eli Stone with Greg Berlanti, is penning the pilot episode.

Booster Gold last appeared on Smallville Season 10. It is not known if actor Eric Martsolf will return to reprise the character on this new Syfy adaptation.

Risky, but it could be what DC needs to jump start its non-Batman properties.

I'll keep an eye on this one to see how the progress goes, cause this could be really good.

All I know about Booster Gold is what I saw on "Smallville". Regardless, I'd still probably give this a chance.
