Blu-Ray Copy Protection Cracked
The first discs to ship with the new AACS MKBv7 feature were Alvin and the Chipmunks and Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem. The site also reported that those discs won't play without the new firmware update enabling this protection, even though it's already been hacked.
We'll have more on this when we get more information.

Some people may use it for piracy but for a lot of us it just enables us to use content we legally paid for any way we have the legal right to do so w/out having to get reamed by the studios. The real lesson here isn't 'oh noes stupid pirates ruin it for everybody' its that stale studios don't want to adopt or explore new business models and are desperately clutching to (and failing) old models. You're essentially complaining about freedom to use content you've paid for. Yea, what f*ckers indeed.

Pirates gonna make regular consumers pay more when studios compensate.

There seems to be no middle ground between a fair business model and the consumer's fair use rights. The copyright holders need to be protected, but it's not fair that consumers have to pay multiple time for the same content. You should be able to pay for one movie one time and be able to watch its on all different formats and devices. We should have to pay multiple times for DVD, HD DVD Blu-Ray, iPod, PSP, mobile phones, etc. etc. Until a fair business model is developed, there will always be DVD copy software programs out there like 1 Click DVD Copy and DVDneXtCopy that enable users to rip, convert, burn and copy DVD movies. BTW, all the best DVD best burning programs are listed, ranked, reviewed and compared side-by-side at: http://www.dvdxcopy.com

For those of you who know anything about Blu-ray disc protection, know that it is forever changing and evolving. You can crack one version but there are an infinite number of other versions behind it.
