Marvel wants to spin-off Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow into a new movie
Here's what the Marvel executive had to say.
"There's no definitive plans, but we have started talking and talking with Scarlett about what a Widow movie could be. Internally we've also started thinking what a 'Hawkeye' movie could be, how we could continue to explore the organization S.H.I.E.L.D., which has a pretty big part in Thor, smaller parts in the two Iron Man films and has a giant part in The Avengers. [So it's like], what would a stand-alone S.H.I.E.L.D. be like? It all goes back to the comics. Sometimes the answer is-when looking at a certain run of issues- 'no way' and sometimes the answer is 'maybe, let's continue to explore it' and certainly with Hawkeye and Black Widow those are two that we're exploring."
Kevin Feige made similar comments last month when he confirmed sequels to both Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger. He also discussed the possibility of an Invaders spin-off, a group which appears briefly in Captain America: The First Avenger.
"We sort of [pause], touch-upon them in Captain America. So right now, there's nothing yet. We'll see how Cap does."
Marvel's The Avengers was released May 4th, 2012 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg. The film is directed by Joss Whedon.

A: Scarlett Johansson brought nothing to the table but rigorous beauty b: Jeremy Renner has not even put on the suit yet or even appeared on screen for us to judge his character as of yet, so i'll say NO!

I'm more interested in Hawkeye having his own movie - his character is way more interesting to me

Also, screw that recasting idea concerning Widow/ScarJo. Continuity is important to me and I'm sure others. Iron Man 2 wasn't called Black Widow, it was called Iron Man 2, so her minimal amount of screentime and time to show what she can do shouldn't be held against her. I'd rather see her continue on with the character and have the opportunity to convince the naysayers. We already had 2 casualties in the case of Terrence Howard and Edward Norton, I'd prefer to see no more going forward.
And yes, I'm biased, because ScarJo is a goddess to me.

@diaigma Me too. I'd love a team up movie with just them. If Avengers really does play with a relationship idea between them, a follow up just following them would be cool.

I stand by my claim that if Iron Man 2 was any indication, Scarlett doesn't have the ability to headline a superhero movie. She lacks charisma and screen energy. I still think the best way to do a Widow movie is to recast the character younger (e.g., Emma Roberts) and show how she was recruited as a spy and eventually joined SHIELD.

I'm looking forward mostly to that Hawkeye spinoff with Jeremy Renner. Anything with him is worth while. Terrific actor.

Smaller parts in the two iron man films? um, SHIELD took over the f*cking iron man 2 movie. that movie was more a shield movie than it was an iron man film... and I really don't want to see a shield, nor a black widow, film(s) I'm already choosing to pass on those. and a hawkeye movie? ehhhhhh, we'll see how that goes.....

Hmm.. Sounds interresting. However, I would rather see a Hawkeye movie than a movie with Black Widow. Don't get me wrong, love both of the actors and the characters, but Hawkeye interests me more somehow. He was the comedic guy in the avengers as I remember it.

I say let's wait to see how they do in 'The Avengers' first. Personally, ScarJo didn't do much for me as Black Widow in 'Iron Man 2', so I don't have high hopes for her in 'Avengers' let alone fronting her own film. Also, I'd wait to see her chemistry on-screen with Renner before deciding that putting the two of them together in their own film is a good idea.
As for Hawkeye by himself, I've always felt that he could be used in Marvel movies in the most unique way of all of the characters. With characters like Cap, Iron Man, Hulk, the X-Men, etc., they have such clearly defined story arcs and villains, it's hard to really deviate from what was there in the comics. With Hawkeye, you have the ability to explore all kinds of genres and all kinds of stories you normally wouldn't. He's the perfect "everyman" of the heroes to allow for this kind of thing.
I've always looked at him as Marvel's James Bond in relation to movies. Not James Bond from the espionage aspect that clearly Nick Fury would most emulate, but that James Bond's film career is marked by a number of different stories that didn't necessarily hinge on any other story.
Hawkeye could be used in such a fashion and done on the relative cheap. You want a heist movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, use Hawkeye. You want a conspiracy thriller in the MCU, use Hawkeye. You want an action buddy comedy in the MCU, use Hawkeye. You want to go all out with the 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith' style romantic adventure with Mockingbird, use Hawkeye.
There's a lot of freedom on Marvel's part with him.

I think them as a team, sort of like they were in the early ultimates would be cool, just lose the part about Black Widow being a bad guy actually. them together would be a good movie.

@Kon-El Yes, Hawkeye and Black Widow were romantically involved at one point. But Mockingbird is the Black Canary to his Green Arrow.

Why not just make a movie with both of them? Aren't they both romantically involved at some point? Like green Arrow and Black Canary
