Black Dynamite Finds a Home at Sony Pictures

Sony has made the first overnight deal of the Sundance Film Festival. According to Variety, the studio has closed the deal to acquire the blaxploitation film Black Dynamite.

Sony purchased the North American distribution rights for $2 million, in a negotiations period that lasted into the wee hours of the morning. The deal was said to come with a heavy marketing commitment from Sony and the studio will aim for a release later this year. The studio buyers also believe a franchise can be spawned from this film.

The film, a blaxpoitation spoof with zany action sequences, premiered at the festival late Sunday night, with the offer soon following after the film ended.

I saw the red band trailer for it and it looks really really good but keep in mind they kept that 70's look and feeling(even with cheesy kung-fu moves). Real surprised this is not presented by QT ,all the films he presented so far ( the protector, hostel 2 , hell ride) are great exploitation flicks and this one looks really kick ass
