Beowulf to Be Shown in Select Theaters in Dolby 3D Digital
Dolby 3D Digital Cinema technology was introduced at ShoWest 2007 in Las Vegas. Before rolling out the technology to a wider audience, Dolby held a 3D beta test which yielded favorable results.
"The popularity of the 3D format is changing the film industry landscape," said Tim Partridge, Executive Vice President, Products and Technology, Dolby Laboratories. "Dolby 3D enhances the cinema experience for moviegoers and makes it easy and cost-effective for exhibitors to offer a high-quality 3D presentation in their theatres. We are pleased that Paramount Pictures is including select exhibitors who have installed our Dolby 3D solution in its distribution for this movie."
Dolby 3D Digital Cinema provides exhibitors and distributors an efficient and cost-effective 3D solution. The ability to utilize a standard white screen gives exhibitors a cost advantage, as no special "silver screen" is required. The ease of shifting the Dolby 3D Digital Cinema system from 3D to 2D and back, as well as moving the 3D film between auditoriums of different sizes, retains the flexibility exhibitors have come to expect. Dolby 3D Digital Cinema uses a unique color filter technology that provides very realistic color reproduction with extremely sharp images delivering a great 3D experience to every seat in the house.
Beowulf was released November 16th, 2007 and stars Ray Winstone, Anthony Hopkins, John Malkovich, Robin Wright, Brendan Gleeson, Crispin Glover, Alison Lohman, Angelina Jolie. The film is directed by Robert Zemeckis.
