Benicio Del Toro Is Che

It has long been been rumored, but now its official. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Benicio del Toro is playing Argentine revolutionary Ernesto Che Guevara in a new Steven Soderbergh docudrama.

The suspected name of the project is Guerrilla. The plot revolves around Guevara and his attempt to overthrow and oust Fidel Castro from his post in the Cuban government in 1959. Del Toro will spend nine weeks in Spain shooting the film.

Colombian actress Catalina Sandino Moreno, Oscar-nominated for Maria Full of Grace, has also been added to the cast.

Guerrilla is currently in production.

i think the plot would actually revolve around guevara and castro working together to overthrow the dictator batista, otherwise it's a piece of total fiction. guevara overthrew batista, not castro.

This is going to be fantastico! What a coincidence! I'm in Puerto Rico on vacation right now and I did a horseback riding tour in the rainforest yesterday morning and I saw construction workers build'ing all kinds of buildings/huts/structures and the tour guide told me that it was for a movie that they are going to start filming in september and that Benicio Del Toro and Matt Damon are going to be in it. I dont know about Matt Damon but anyways, I put the pieces together and knew that it had to be the Che Guevara movie that I read about last year on this website! and sure enough the tour guide said I was correct! So it was defenitely cool to see the real life "behind-the-scenes" of Che! hahahaha
With Soderbergh and Del Toro behind this one, I know it will be great!
