Warner Bros. moving forward with a Beetlejuice sequel
Both Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg signed an overall deal with Warner Bros., and it is believed the Beetlejuice sequel will be their first project under the pact. It is said this will not be a remake, but will advance the story line of the original Beetlejuice, which was directed by Tim Burton. The writers' deal sprung from the work that Seth Grahame-Smith performed on Tim Burton's Dark Shadows, which is currently in production.
It isn't known whether Tim Burton or star Michael Keaton will be involved in the Beetlejuice sequel at this time. Last year we reported that another Beetlejuice cast member, Geena Davis, expressed interest in returning for a sequel.
Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg created the MTV series The Hard Times of RJ Berger, and Seth Grahame-Smith wrote the screenplay adaptations for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, which were both based on his novels.
Beetlejuice was released March 30th, 1988 and stars Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Annie McEnroe, Maurice Page, Hugo Stanger, Michael Keaton, Rachel Mittelman, Catherine O'Hara. The film is directed by Tim Burton.

I think nobody can replace Michael Keaton. He is the only ghost with the most. But good news. Reports that Tim Burton has signed on with Warner Bros and Michael Keaton is definitly on board!! So nuts to all those other actors!

This will be truly a momentus moment in cinema- what with todays visuals and 3D imagary and Tim Burtons astueness and Micheal Keaton still being a babe at comedy and Danny Elfman has become huger and bigger and Keaton was only in the film himself for 20 mintues this can be a jyous thing to be created- cant wait* hope to see it- great idea- though the originality may not seem slim fitted it will work - have faith people

Keaton said a while ago on an interview he would love to do another beetlejuice movie, whether this is still the case i dont know but i agree with @Iantimes, Think all the other cast members are too old now, Baldwins fat and Davis, well shes desperate for any kind of work aint she?! lol but i think Keaton would still deffo pull it off, hes the best :D x

I just had 1 of those funny ideas, ...What if we had 1 of those Beetlejuice vs Beetlejuice things in this film. lol Where a really bad evil 1 kidnaps keaton's character. So then with the help of (the new lead girl) she could help him fight off the evil-Beetlejuice. lol I dunno just a thougt! lol.

Whatever it is that they have in mind for this film. All i hope is that they dont make keaton or his character "beetlejuice" look bad with the new update.
He had that whole charisma thing going when he brought beetlejuice to life "on screen" i mean at that time there wasnt anything like it done b4. which means all eyes on keaton . it was his job to create sumthing out of it. and by god he did. and it worked out great. kinda like the new joker was created by Heath Ledger.
So with that in mind I just cant picture any1 else being beetlejuice. Not even the guy at the hollywood corner can portray him, lol. Unless they plan on re-inventing his character then this wouldnt be beetlejuice, thats kinda like making die-hard's john mclane a happy man, , lol just doesnt work.

@jasonkat i think you missed what i said... i said that fans abandoned him after jack frost, i never implied that was a good role, i meant in the fact that jack frost was a bad film and after that keaton never went away but he was forgotten. I too loved keaton as batman, even with bale as batman i still think keaton was great... wont say anymore than that for the fact i have run it into the ground my liking of his portrayal.
I do agree that beetlejuice could be rebooted... with keaton in a cameo, but that is what they want to do with ash in evil dead as well, and a very bad idea at that. Beetlejuice is keatons indiana jones, his james bond, his captain kirk, his pee wee herman. I cant forsee anyone picking up the mantle and it actually being good. Keaton had the charm, the energy and the attitude to play beetlejuice and no matter who's name someone throws out there to take on the role, i cant see it happening without him, they would only be trying to reinvent or parody keaton... so for me it would look silly. As far as ryder... i adored her growing up... in heathers, and reality bites, and even beetlejuice... but i saw the dilemma, and personally i think she is past her prime, again i would only see it as eye candy, for the fans... and it might have worked for say... the new star trek, but did not work for indiana jones KOTCS or a dreadful film such as beverly hills cop 3. Reunion movies dont fare well with me... maybe with you @jasonkat they do but why try to recapture magic when they can create a whole new story... beetlejuice is not stuck to that one story.... that family, that idea... after all he is the ghost with the most, and with that, keaton should be able to show us why he is indeed the ghost with the most.

About keaton's cameo. What i meant to say was.. he would no longer be Beetlejuice which means we will have a new actor play that. but keaton can still be in it in sum kinda lil cameo. or like maybe he becomes human again like a real size adult, or i dunno but it would b great to have him in it since he started it all. However the new guy would b our new face (whoever that may be) or it can be a she too. that could b kool. a girl version and instead of Ryder returning, since the lead would b a female Beetlejuice, then Ryder's place would b a male teen or sumthing,

This might b the gayest thing i'll ever say but its tru.. keaton will always be ur snowman, but he will always b my batman! :P lol.
With that out of the way. i agree and disagree with u on sum parts, Yea keaton needs to return to his roots, But so does Ryder. At least in my book if they wanna go that route, bring back "the gang" at least for 1 more run!
Thats 1 way, but another way like u said.. Bring him back but give us a new family, that could work. and the story can b way diff.
Or 3rd.. reboot the whole thing , with new blood, but still bring back keaton and make him do sum kinda cameo. . On top of that, the new rebooted story will b alot better writen, w/out any plotholes, or unanswered questions, So really, theres alot of ways they can go here,
(Sadly its been yrs since i last saw Beetlejuice ) so i kinda 4got how it ended, hopfully he didnt die, that would b pointless to bring him back at all.

I heard about there being a sequel to the Beetlejuice movie, a long time ago and it never got made. Now Beetlejuice 2 has some writers for the script, it might be happening and the movie might get greenlit.

if they do this... scrap the original cast bring back keaton who still looks good enough to play the part, and have it a reboot yet sequel with a different family. WOULD BE GREAT to see keaton back to his roots, i think hollywood really shunned him and fans abandoned him after jack frost...lol. But still love multiplicity which just goes to show the range he can do. I think the problems with 20+ year sequels is that they try to capture the originals for nostalgic reasons and the stories suffer, and the characters suffer. hollywood thinks we have the same idea of these characters, however they are 20+ years older. with keaton in makeup he could pull this off again, but davis and baldwin would really only be there for eye candy and not serve much of a purpose... ex: marion ravenwood in KOTCS

no. just no. hollywood messed up the Mask with jim carry by making the mask 2. what do you think is going to happen lol. well then again...if they reboot it, have most of the old cast and have tim burton and steven speilberge work on it to, then maybe it will come out ok. but it will also have to have good writing too. well this is only a suggestion if they want to make it good. if their intentions is to butcher it, then they will do what ever they want. speaking of this how is the new spider-man coming out? anybody know?
