Battlestar Galactica
The site is also reporting, however, that the film will be based on the original 1978 Battlestar Galactica series and not the popular Sci Fi channel reincarnation that is finishing its TV run up this year. Original series creator Glen R. Larson is set to write the script and produce the film.
While Universal Studios denied the report, the site was able to confirm the news through several independent sources and they expect the studio to make an official announcement in the near future.
We'll surely keep you posted on any and all updates concerning this new film as soon as we have more information.
Battlestar Galactica is in development . The film is directed by Bryan Singer.

I am very happy to hear this. The original BSG is my favorite TV show from the 70's. It never got a fair chance. Make it totally awesome, Glen! Hope you bring back Dirk, Richard and the rest of the original cast...and the original Cylons!

If they base it off of the old series, I hope that they update the FX, but keep the old look. Kind of like when they beefed up the original Star Trek movie. There was familiarity there, but things had been updated.

in answer to the question of why not the re-imaged series being made into a movie, Glen A. Larson owns the theatrical rights to Battlestar Galactica which means moore can't go there. now as for a movie based on the original and only, in my opinion, Battlestar Galactica, i can't wait!!!! it's my fave series of all time and i'm hoping that all the original actors and characters will be in it. my only regret is that Lorne Green, Lloyd Bridges, and John Colicos are no longer with us to reprise their roles.

Hmmmm interesting, so its in a very early pre-production stage.
This should be interesting i've seen some awesome stuff adverts from the Sci-Fi channel for the reincarnated series.
But if they can adapt that kind of style to this, then i'll definately be interested, especially since its being done by the creator of the show

That's cool! Loved the original...saw the Battlestar Galactica ride at Universal Studios themepark as a kid with the Cylons shooting laser guns. It's a Star Wars rip off, but, a satisfying one.
