Battleship Photo with Rihanna as Petty Officer Raikes

Last week, Universal Pictures released the first trailer for Battleship, which hits theaters May 25 of 2012. Missing from the trailer was singer-turned-actress Rihanna, who makes her motion picture debut here playing Petty Officer Raikes. Today, the first official photo from the film was released, and it features Rihanna manning a huge machine gun. Battleship was released May 18th, 2012 and stars Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgård, Rihanna, Brooklyn Decker, Tadanobu Asano, Hamish Linklater, Liam Neeson, Peter MacNicol. The film is directed by Peter Berg.

    When I first heard of the battleship movie I thought it was gonna be two geeks playing the f*cken board game haha, and in the last scene the winner yells "you sunk my battleship!" Then the end credits, this is a stupid idea man I swear!

    @rojodiablo @rufio Actually, I'd have been more interested if it was modern times, but still with the naval warfare. Some warship on warship action, some dogfights in the air between enemy carriers, marines sneaking onto other battleships and doing combat from floor to floor on the ship, it could have been really interesting. Instead we get this.

    Ill see it just because Decker is in really but I doubt I'll see it in the theaters and even though I expected it to be more of a warfare type flick, I wasn't dead set against any of the alien action sequences I saw. Obviously they had to do something instead of the whole "you sunk my battleship" slogan from the board game but I agree with Rufio, they should have made it more like a WW2 flick but instead they went with aliens, since that seems to be the hot topic right now.

    i still think they should have gone all out for this and made it a naval warfare movie. maybe base in WWII or something. making it an alien movie and loading it with people like Brooklyn and Rhianna to sell tickets.
    this movie disappoints me greatly. could have been so much better.

    Now if you take the title of Battleship out before I saw this trailer I would think that I was watching a scene from the last Transformers movie. Now knowing that this wouldn't be based on a 70s board game I might have had a different reaction towards the trailer. Instead I was truly blown away from what I was seeing and also left confused to what this has to do with a board game from the 70s that did not have aliens. I might go see it because of the question mark feature but that could change with a full trailer. Right now I give it a 6 out 10 for keeping me interested.
