I havnt seen skyline and it already got bad reviews. Hopfully This 1 will b watch-worthy. I hate when trailers are better than the movie it-self. It kinda takes the air out of it. Like tron has a great trailer but watch the movie will suck. psh!

@dave ooo i know one of my favorite spacecrafts was in the original day the earth stood still. Simple in form yet still mesmerizing.

I just hate how "detailed" a spacecraft has to look. I mean the beginning of the trailer with those photos are real and they dont show a detailed spacecraft at all. And i love how the aliens are looking though

The Narrator: The Better Man
@Dave, the trailer, although possibly misleading, basically gives us what sci-fi movies rarely do: all around satisfaction. This isn't going to be a think-tank of a film, like Inception; nor will it be as original as D9. However, I am willing to bet it will blow every alien invasion film out of the water (save The War of the Worlds). I mean it has:
1. A solid B-list cast
2. A simple, if slightly over-used story, with a rather wide scope
3. Amazing effects
4. A sense of pacing (hopefully)
5. Edgy cinematography
6. Creativity (those aliens, from what I saw, looked bad ass)
7. A sense of emotion with the troops who repel the oncoming invasion, as well as the citizens of L.A.
If you ask me, it had everything Skyline didn't have. Setting the story mainly in L.A. instead of all over the world was a smart move, as was hiring a B cast. It gave them a little extra money to work with, probably gearing towards the effects of the film, making it more realistic. Not to mention setting the story around a group of soldiers who do the fighting, and the citizens they protect. this not only gives us more "in your face" action, but it gives us emotional ties to the people in harms way, unlike other films. We can follow the soldiers as they respond to orders they don't understand and/or don't agree with, and how the entire city falls to its knees. All this from a plot synopsis, and a teaser? Yes, I got all that. Overall, this trailer kicked ass. If the film is half as good as the teaser, I will gladly fork over my money over.

@Skywise no i meant since u say u want to see some spaceships and laser beams I referred to Tron because thats the closest thing to ur statement coming out this year

@Daveactor7 There was never any question about seeing Tron...I'm also kind of a sucker for Disney. Their live action films are hit or miss at best of times but when they hit they hit hard! So yes sir! I will be there opening day for Tron....something i can not say for B:LA (altho i will see it on the big screen)

@Supes maybe ur right about the skyline thing, but District 9 had a stronger plot then this movie. I dunno but I feel like this movie is going to be a flop with audiences :/

@Dave Maybe you just have the bad taste of Skyline looping through your head that you're biased right now. Maybe think on it. From the trailer, I got that same feeling that District 9 gave me, between the news reports and then cinematic storytelling, and you can tell it's going to be an intense story following the marines. On top of the great looking visuals, and what looks like going to be some wicked street fights with aliens.

@Daveactor7 of course your right about the plot. I mean, how many times have we seen this movie? This concept is way way older than i myself am. I am easy to please. i looooove my brilliant little indie films and aforeign films but sometimes I just need to see some crazy spaceships shooting laser beams. Sounds dorky but i'm a sucker, what can i say.

I see ur take on the cinematography, but yet the plot is so pointless and its bound to end in a cheesy way.

@Daveactor7 if you are referring to my awesomeness comment. I was very impressed by the photography and cinematagrophy as well as the realistic nature of the soldiers. Being a vet myself i am always very critical with what i see in military based films wether they be alien invasions...or beach invasions. Of course i will know nothing until i see the movie. As for opinions....thats mine. For what its worth.
P.S. i know this is super nerdy but i used to study film production...back in the day so i really pay attention to things most people dont even notice like lighting, shadows picture frame. God i am such a nerd.
