Batman 3 to shoot in New Orleans?
"It appears the studio's relationship with the New Orleans filming office is at it's peak and neither party wishes for it to end when Green Lantern enters post production in Los Angeles next week. Location scouting for the untitled Batman project has already begun in Chicago, Illinois, where the two previous films were headquartered. If this new deal finalizes, almost half of principal photography will take place in New Orleans, Louisiana. This deal would be a big help to the studio financially, since it would allow better use of the projected $200 million budget for the film."
Batman 3 is apparently scheduled to begin production between March and April, 2011.
The Dark Knight Rises comes to theaters July 20th, 2012 and stars Liam Neeson, Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman, Aidan Gillen, Marion Cotillard. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.

I am not sure if this has been pointed out in the below comments (I'm not going to read them all) but Louisiana has a 40% tax incentive while Detroit had 50% and Georgia has 30%. (These numbers are probably wrong but are close) It makes the production cost go down a good bit. To get the incentive in Georgia, the filmmaker has to show some sort of symbol of the state, like a peach or so on. Not sure what the others states have.

Hopefully, they can still get Johnny Depp to play as The Riddler as early rumors have said

@Slysnide, dude, I'm sorry if I spoiled them for you. I didn't realize when I was typing that you may not have read them.
I also agree with what you said about Ducard somewhat being Bruce's surrogate father, helping to shape Bruce into the man who would be Batman. While I don't know what Nolan would do to make it personal between Bats and Riddler, I do know Hush is ready made for that kind of story. Maybe using both would be the way to go-one with an axe to grind, the other trying to solve a great mystery.
Try to find Hush and Heart of Hush, if you can. Both are worth every page and penny, IMO.

@Slysnide I'm sure if anyone can make it work, it's our man Nolan. He fully understands the material he's working with, which gives me a lot of pure faith in him.

@ejk1: thanks for that. An index of these comics would be great. I'll hunt one online. And then moviewise, in the end when Joker created a situation where Batman must corrupt himself by not allowing the guilty to take the blame, thus temporarily putting his crimefighting life on hold, or otherwise allow them to take the fall and lose anyway, then not only did he win, but he succeeded at making Batman reconsider his angle. Like in the climax of "Killing Joke" when he proves that one bad day is all you need. And with the death of Rachel, and then Harvey who meant much to Bruce as a potential legitimate replacement, then it struck a cord personally.
If Nolan goes with Riddler, I wonder what else he could do to Bruce to make that character have an equally personal effect, as Ducard was the father to the one Bruce lost long ago, just as Bruce was the son to the one Ducard never had, yet they reject each other in the end. Tough acts to follow.

@Slysnide, from the personal standpoint, I meant that in the comics, Joker has hurt not only Batman, but affected the life of Bruce Wayne enormously. He killed Jason Todd, shot and killed Gordon's wife, and paralyzed Barbara Gordon, just to name a few acts of violence. He has, whether knowingly(as in the case of Todd), or unknowingly(Barbara Gordon), hurt the people Batman cares about. This makes their encounters more personal for Batman, more so than say Riddler or Penguin, who have committed horrible acts, but as of yet touched upon Bruce Wayne/Batman's life in such a way.
This is something Hush has in common with Joker. Aside from knowing Bruce is Batman, Hush arguably hurt Batman more than anyone else this decade, on a personal level, when he surgically removed Selina Kyle's heart in Heart of Hush.
As far as this movie series goes, I didn't look at Joker as a villain that hit Batman on a personal level, at least until Rachel's death, which inadvertently touched upon the life of Bruce Wayne. At first, Joker was trying to kill Batman, but it was business, not personal.

@ejk1: It's interesting that you mention Joker as a personal villain. While it's true that he cares about that relationship more, as evident in the opening pages of "The Killing Joke," there really was no reason for Joker to be his nemesis until "TDK," where not only did Joker weed out the corrupt and inept in society, but also proved to batman that he can never beat him cause he's always satisfied with what he does. Granted he can be surprised like when nobody hit the detonator, but he pleased he got thrown off the scaffold, and at the fact that no matter what Batman did or didn't do, he'd win. Seeing as if Harvey took the fall, it's win-win as Batman would lose in that case, whereas taking the fall eliminates Harvey, as well as Batman's persona, like he said "kill the batman." And then also showed like Ducard that he'd never do what was necessary, which was weeding out said persons from the system.
Point being, that in the comics I didn't see such a connection to merit such personal feeling for him, whereas Riddler always had the best psychological showdowns with Batman, many which would work for #3 if he's in it. I agree that Hush would be great, if they do it right, and make it relevant to the rest of the series, seeing as Hush targets Bruce more than Batman, and I doubt Nolan would have him know they're the same from the get-go. Point being that Hush's plot would be irrelevant to Batman's plight from the last film unless they really got a good reason for it.

The dark knight was so ingenious. I was so mad it didnt get a nomination for best picture. It deserved numerous oscars.

Christopher Nolan is a genius, but I'll miss Heath in the next Batman film. Don't know if I'll be able to watch it without him.

@Slysnide, I agree that a personal story would be better. For this reason, I have been promoting Hush to be the main villain. A few flashback scenes to the childhood of Bruce Wayne would suffice for the backstory, and then the so-called friend comes back to town to help Bruce recover from mysterious injuries. Instead of using Batman's rogue gallery(although Scarecrow could pop up), he could use the mob as his help/patsies. The Riddler could also be involved, but Hush gets my vote, as he may be Batman's most personal villain, with the exception of Joker.

There'd be a significantly different look to New Orleans than Chicago, so maybe they'll be scouting for Gotham's city limits? haha.
Upon reading up on Riddler (if he does turn out to be the villain) I found that he's mostly non-violent, and his best duels with Batman are cerebral, not physical. Some of their confrontations are deep. Point being that I don't think that Nolan will want to step on the predecessor's toes when it comes to scale. In regards to a personal conflict, then sure. But he's quoted as saying that most third films don't turn out well, which was originally a discouraging fact to not revisit Batman till his brother had an idea. So given that, then I don't think he'll try to top the epic scale of terrorism & destruction in "TDK," as he also said he wasn't interested in doing by "not ballooning the whole thing" then perhaps it will be a shearly personal story. That'd be interesting.

Yes, New York is gritty in parts, but let me remind you most cities have gritty parts. In the past Toronto which is only 30 minutes away from me has been known to have scenes taken in by several films to lower costs.
End of Days to name one film.
