Morgan Freeman talks multiple villains in Batman 3
" There's been talk of the Riddler, the Joker - I don't mean the Joker - the Penguin. Philip Seymour Hoffman as the Penguin, and that sounds interesting to me. So we'll wait and see. And there just may be more than one."
Morgan Freeman also mentioned Catwoman and referenced, "The Freezer," as in Mr. Freeze, who was previously portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1997 movie Batman & Robin. He also said, however, that Catwoman and Mr. Freeze might not be the main villains chosen for Batman 3.
We also reported last month that Batman 3 would start shooting in May, news which was confirmed by Morgan Freeman:
"No I don't really know anything at all. I've heard what you've heard. Spring."
The Dark Knight Rises was released July 20th, 2012 and stars Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Liam Neeson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gary Oldman, Marion Cotillard, Morgan Freeman. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.

Wow. Thats the most elaborate slam i think I've ever read on this site. Good one BTodd. But i think you worry too much. I think Nolan has proved that he knows what he is doing and we should just trust that he will do the right thing and make another kick ass Batman movie. And i agree with totally avoiding the whole Joker thing. I think if he tried to reprise the Joker in this one it would just cause alot of hoop-la from all the sissy la las that are in love with Heath Ledger and his portrayal of the Joker. Dont get me wrong I would love to see the Joker in this one but I understand why he won't be. He's such an awsome character you could probably fit him in every Batman movie in some capacity.

This rumor instantly takes me back to 2007 and the multi villain news of Spiderman 3. If Nolan decides to utilize more than two villains, he may jeopardize his Batman saga. This particular portrayal of Batman is meant to be the beginning stages of Bruce Wayne's evolution into The Batman. As Nolan stated he does not plan on concluding his story, but rather he plans on leaving plenty of room for potential expansion and he will not film this expansion of the story but rather leave it to the viewer to determine the next stages of the story. In my opinion, Nolan should minimize the number of villains as much as he possibly can in order to have a central storyline that legitimately involves his characters and their motives without reaching to far across the isle. Because as it has been proven the multiple villain scheme only works if it is relevant to the mythology of the character and the storyline of the film. Sandman, miniature Green Goblin, and Venom couldn't even make a solid story, so I truly hope Nolan approaches this with the same vigor and attentiveness as his previous outtakes on Batman.

"Batmen: The Prince of Crime Returns" or " The Dark Knight & The Prince of Crimes" or something using Joker's nickname "Prince of Crime"...hehhehe ha ho who hahah heheheh....... and yes @JasonKat, James Franco is spot on with his big smiles, and looks, he would do a good joker, but The Mime is just sayin'......

Micheal C. looks NOTHINg like the joker, u must have a crush on this guy to even consider him worthy, lol
James Franco, looks alot like the last joker. if not hes on the right scale, w his smile, age, and looks, but i doubt the joker will return in batman3, maybe in 4 or 5, that movie might b called "batman: return of the joker" who knows, lol

@TheMime...Also a good choice, as coniving as he is on Dexter, is just and cold and calculating as the Joker is with his crimes, good pick my friend

Also just throwing it out there.....
The Mime thinks..... what about Michael C. Halls?... If you don't know who the hell is Michael C. Halls, I suggest you look it up..... He would do a good joker....It was Michael, Gordon-Levitt, & Franco that are my choices for Joker... But now that Levitt is doing Riddler, which I agree also, and since #bane5000 already mentioned James Franco.... The Mime thought "why not mention my other candidate, and see what people think?"...so what you people think?

Franco is awesome, but I doubt DC wants to associate Joker with Harry Osborn. I wouldn't mind if they did, though.

just throwing it out there...
for either future batman films, if the Green Arrow Supermax movie ever gets going or if Zack Snyder does do his Dark Knight Returns film....i think James Franco would make a good Joker, or like ive seen suggest on another site, which would be crazy and cool, have Mark Hamil play an older Joker and have the Joker voice with it...rememeber, im just throwing it out there, what do u think?

@narrator- i can't argue w you when it comes to these users. You said it best.
As for Nolan, he is def a great director however i agree, he's human and once we put him on the high pedestal we will find flaws. Ie. James Cameron years ago w terminator. He's human. Love his work but the" nolan can't fail" is ridiculous.
As for the characters, i agree they are toonier than the ones seen before. And yes major tweaks would have to happen in order to bring them in, but it is possible. What i hope for after this is that if Nolan truly decides to be done, that he leaves it open for more possibilities, new actors and directors to take over and continue. No reboots.

@TheNarrator Well, since the tie in with Facebook and Youtube, were bound to get a LOT more crap users on here. You might be in for more frustration if you let it get to you.
My opinion, I don't think the comments here are going to cause Nolan any nights of unrest. It may irk some of us, but I tend to just ignore their ignorant posts.

@Fratson, of course, but those characters (Joker, Ra's, Scarecrow, Two Face) were still all plausible from the get go. Characters like Freeze and Lizard are all too toony, and would require more in depth tweaks to the point where they wouldn't necessarily represent themselves. I mean what is this? Marvel Noir? No. Besides, Nolan said he does not want/is interested in those type of characters. So no matter how much it would have worked, he already said no. Argument closed.
Also, my main problem with the majority of these users is that they are "go with the flow" users. They have opinions but when someone with a higher IQ, and a stronger opinion comes along, they are swayed easily. Which is why we have so many two faced *ssholes on this site. Same thing comes into play here.
I am all for Nolan, but people are hyping him up to be untouchable, and I do not want to be there when that theory is proven wrong. It's going to happen sometime, and when it does half of these users will have their scarce faith shaken. You know? My theory; the less hyped a director is, the more successful his outcome. Nolan doesn't need any extra pressure. And some of these users definitely need to get a mind of their own.

@narrator- fairness of arguement, scarecrow and joker have both been tweaked. To make any villain plausible required tweaking in Nolans universe. Speculation is what fuels the rumors and website. As of late i have not been on here as often as i was in the past, but also bc i really haven't had much to say like in the past.however i belong to this site for debate and speculation. That being said, any and all villians are possible with milan, the question becomes who. But until stated we are all here to debate and speculate.

Why do people talk about making these characters plausible and non-plausible. Sure, you can make any character realistic with the proper tweaks, but why go through that? Nolan has enough gritty and realistic villains to choose from. He already said he doesn't want any weird and unrealistic villain. Case closed folks.
Also, I know we all have faith in Nolan, but for the last time, stop expecting the WORLD from this sequel. He doesn't need to top TDK, nor do I expect him to. Again, all he has to do is send the series off right... who knows, he might even do the unthinkable: kill off Batman. Lets face it, it would be pretty hard for him to be in a JL movie the way Nolan and Co. created him. Overall a lot of you are throwing out the stupidest of suggestions/rumors, and debating over a movie barely in pre-pro. Nolan hasn't failed us yet, so chill. On that note, don't expect the film to be flawless. If you haven't noticed, his film have constantly been getting more and more criticized by viewers. No director is perfect, so stop treating him like he is.

Only one question remains about 'Batman 3'. What the hell is it going to be the title of this movie going to be? I know for a fact the Christopher Nolan isn't going to leave this titled Batman 3. I have heard from some people that this third sequel might be titled 'The Dark Knight Returns', and I think thats not really a bad title, but the I think Christopher Nolan should come up with a better title.

If robin were to come in, he would b brought in around batman 5 or 6. but by that time, most of the actors would have step down from their role(s), including Christian Bale and nolan. My idea of robin, is to make him a super hero. on his own term. kinda like "kick-ass" hitgirl and big daddy were the real heros and kickass was just sum1 who wanted to b a hero on his own term. kickin ass, So that would b kool for robin. and then maybe u get to see him fight batman, after awhile they become friends and team up to fight whoever the villian may be. my guess..the riddler.

i agree that hush would be a very fitting villain for the next film, i think he fits well into the series that nolan has created, and would be a great adversary in that world to batman. other than that, the riddler might be interesting, and could be done with a good actor and a better direction than has been taken in the past. Mr. Freeze could ultimately be done, but have to be majorly tweaked to almost unrecognizable degree from the comics. the penguin i agree could be mob related, but again how much revamping would need to be done to make it work, besides cant say he is the most interesting of the rogue gallery to me, so maybe just a side character. the ventriloquist might work and hasnt been depicted in any other form except the cartoon.

So in other words, this isn't a news story revealing anything new. Just old rumors from a couple years ago that he reiterated cuz some dumbsh*t interviewer nagged him for a response when he's not in the position to know anything anyway. Only the Nolan Bros and maybe Goyer are. So come on people, just wait till December (8-12wks depending on the date) when the announcement will most likely be made.

why does everyone have a boner over Joseph G. Levitt!!?. Yes he was in Inception a Nolan film so what, he was okay in it and the only thing that made him badass was that he was in a badass action sequence! don't get me wrong i'm sure his an untapped material but personally i feel that, One: he looks to much like Heath Ledger (maybe why ppl have a boner for him) and Two: the general idea of him or anyone playing another psychotic villain (Riddler) whos threat once again to the dark knight is through moral testing and mind f*cking scenarios they put Gotham and its hero (btw now current anti-hero from where TDK left of) through has been done and done perfectly with Heath's Joker. i just feel that this next one will need something fresher in the third act as a villain who challenges Batman not only mentally (i.e. Catwoman love/hate relationship) but more importantly PHYSICALLY which Catwoman can definitely be she is his copy cat. hence the title beside its obvious interpretation of being in fact a "cat burglar". she's a worthy opponent in the material arts and on top of that Batman has as huge a boner as some of you do for Joseph which like some of you clouds his judgement and there by in its self creates its own moral mind f*cking scenario for the dark knight. maybe even a redemption story can be told for them both as they have a taste for vigilante justice against big crime gangs.
as for Angelina the reason i brought her up is because i mean look and her and her career.. the acting is definitely there guaranteed, shes been in dozens of physical roles and done a lot of her own stunts which just makes her even more believable, and of course she like Christian can have a very mysterious and sexy chemistry which would translate i feel awesomely and only bring even more excitement to this chapter which is already just liiiittle bit rushed..
iagree with M00reman last point about Robin btw lol

Shut the frig up all of you, Jolie as catwoman would be completely stupid. Nolan is a casting genius! He would not cas her as catwoman. I'd be surprised if the cat is even makes the cut. I'd like to see Gordan Levitt as a villian. Jonny depp....... not likely as rumours of him were flying about after dark knight and when asked about it in an interview he said no one ahd contacted him about it. Would be fun to see batman and captain Jack have a fight. Bye bye not im goin to bed!

It's like listening to a broken record... "Johnny Depp as Riddler" "Angelina Jolie as Catwoman" "Philip Seymour Hoffman as Penguin".... God I hope not. Nolan should stay away from the obvious choices. Ledger seemed out there for the time, and he ended up paying off big time.

Killer Crock could be an interesting villian if he is done right but i just dont see that happening here. I want to see Batman not only face a villian who is stronger than he is but also smarter. Hush would be my choice but crock could give batman a run for his money in the physical department. It doesnt really matter. I am there.
