Back to the Future Part II Nike Mag Goes Up for Auction!

You've waited nearly 30 years for the future to get here. Now, 2015 has arrived early as Nike debuts the iconic, coveted self-lacing future shoe, The Nike Mag, as seen in Back To The Future Part II.

The Nike Mag is no longer the "greatest shoe never made." The mythical sneaker that originally captured the imagination of audiences in Back To The Future Part II is being released - and they're here to help create a future without Parkinson's disease.

1500 pairs of the 2011 Nike Mag will be auctioned on eBay with all net proceeds going directly to The Michael J. Fox Foundation. Each day for the duration of the ten-day auction, one hundred and fifty pairs of the 2011 Nike Mag shoes will be made available via eBay's Fashion Vault. The auction starts September 8, 8:30PM PST, and will end September 18. Thanks to a previous 50 million dollar match given to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, all donations will be matched, effectively doubling the contributions from the auction.

The original Nike Mag was worn by the Back To The Future Part II character Marty McFly, played by Michael J. Fox, in the year 2015. It came alive, lit up and formed to Marty's foot. The 2011 Nike Mag shoe was designed to be a precise replica of the original from Back to the Future II. The aesthetic is an exact match, down to the contours of the upper, the glowing LED panel and the electroluminescent NIKE in the strap. The 2011 Nike Mag illuminates with the pinch of the "ear" of the high top, glowing for five hours per charge.

I thought those shoes were too cool when i was a kid. That along with the self fitting/self drying jacket and the infamous hoverboard.

This is sadly just a plow to just make as much money as they possibly can in a very short time. If they mass produced these shoes for $150 bucks and half of the money went to fight Parkinson's disease they would make far more money for the charity.

I want these, but I'm not gonna be paying $3000 for them on on eBay (thats what these limited edition bastards will go for). Maybe they'll release them to the general public later.

So this is actually more like a publicity stunt for Parkinson's since there's only 1,500 pairs and they're all for auction on ebay.

@ghostman hahaha "to the public in 2015". that almost sounds like a dream, but its hard to believe that 2015 is not so far away compared to when we saw this movie, Even when it was 1989, the year 2000 seemed like a long way and most people didnt think they'd live long enough to c that year! but hell we r 11yrs past that, its going on 2012, If this world doesnt end next year, i sure wonder wat comes next. i cant imagin writing down the year on paper "2020 or -"2030" thats sum crazy chit right there.

  23. Ghostman

@jasonkat They are being auctioned off for 10 days, to help donate money for Parkinson's disease....and I'm pretty those people who win the 1,500 pairs will also put them up on eBay for you to buy :) who knows, they've been around since 2009, hopefully Nike might actually sell these to the public in 2015 :D

And another thing, why dont they sell these shoes to the public? i mean like stores around the country? why make 2000, or 5000 shoes and throw em on ebay or watever. yea i understand where that money goes but hell we r in the future already, or at least this is my future, i wanna see these movie gagets come to life, ya know? Not sum stupid online sale that only a few people can aford..
I bet u if thy sold these among others i retailer store like sears, footlocker, or any shoes store, that they will sell like hotcakes!
