Jason Flemyng, who portrayed Azazel in X-Men: First Class, revealed today that he is not reprising his role for the mutant heavy sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Here's what the actor had to say, revealing that he is glad to stay home because of the exhaustive makeup process required for Azazel, and because he is now the father of twins.

"I don't think I will be back. Initially I was gutted, but then, I remembered I had to get up at two in the morning, I had to be painted red and be slightly out of focus and posed a lot, and that was sort of it. Now I don't have to do that. I've had twins so I'm quite glad to stay at home. It's filmed in Canada and it takes about seven months so I'm quite glad to be at home."

Back in January, Hugh Jackman revealed that "every other actor who's ever put a superhero uniform on" in previous X-Men movies is coming back for this new mutant adventure. Barring a last minute casting change, it looks like Azazel is sitting this one out.

Bryan Singer is directing from a screenplay by Simon Kinberg, which is based on a 1980s Marvel comic book arc by Chris Claremont and John Byrne. The story takes place in an alternate future where mutants are hunted down viciously by Sentinels, after the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants murders an important Senaator.

X-Men: Days of Future Past was released May 23rd, 2014 and stars Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page. The film is directed by Bryan Singer.

Wow, twice this has happened in the X-Men franchise. I mean, I guess I understand where he specifically is coming from, going through that long process for such an insignificant role, as to where Alan C*mming was just bitching for the sake of bitching. He was a cool character though, but I guess we can do without. We only have 800 other X-Men.
