Avatar Takes in $3.5 Million from Midnight Screenings

Avatar While it isn't anywhere near a record performance, James Cameron's new film performed nicely during its midnight debut. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Avatar grossed an estimated $3.5 million during its run of midnight screenings.

The film opened in about 2,000 screens for its midnight debut, with most of those screens in 3D. The film will open today in over 3,400 theaters, with close to 3,000 screens shown in 3D and close to another 3,000 screens in 2D. Fox domestic distribution president Bruce Snyder also said that Friday matinee grosses were, "exploding."

"That tells me this is going to be a real moviegoers' picture, not just a movie for the fans," Snyder said.

Avatar was released December 18th, 2009 and stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Joel Moore, Giovanni Ribisi, Michelle Rodriguez, Laz Alonso. The film is directed by James Cameron.

Newkill, look at your comments. Weigh your life. It's just not worth continuing. Why must you continue letting those around you suffer?

A cold bath, a lot of aspirin, two flick of a razor. Easy. Actually kind of painless.

Your, Son, or bitch, whichever you prefer. Stop making excuses. Like i said maybe, when you grow the f*ck up you'll understand that advancements mean sh*t, especially in bad economy.

Lol. Son? Who the f*ck are you calling son? And people want (new)er things, better things, and basically "in" things. Like how you like Twilight. Or how little kids love 3D. I mean there's exceptions of people who like it just because they do, but most like it because its the new cool thing. So I am simply saying we may not need an advancement but it will definitely come and people will f*cking love it.

Thank you for noting that your an complete idiot. Son, listen. Sooner or later your going to f*cking realize throughout your pathetic f*cking life that all general audience really want is a good f*cking movie that they paid for. Not f*cking new food to blow money on, Dbox seats, 3D or any sh*t like that.

Lol Bawnian, heres hoping for you to man. and thanks guys, but its an idea i came up with and some of my friends agreed. I mean lets look at the facts we've been stuck on a screen for a hundred years. I mean the only things we have that we make that stay the same over a hundred years are houses and not even that so much. So I am saying change in some way will happen drastically.

And Newkill, your words of wisdom are noted.

I should have been a little more clear. My comments are just not about the movies. The books are also there as well.

Anyway.I dont feel like starting arguement so I'm going to back off by saying.Let's just agree to disagree.

  15. the Narrator

Narzion I agree. Movies will no longer be on the silver screen. It will be in some type of rooms where not only do you see the movie, but you can get up (with glasses or something) and look around and your in the same room as them. Like you can see every single bit of the scene 360 not just what they want to show you. Sort of like a virtual game but in a movie.

    Or something like that. :P

Good point,Narzion. But I still believe that in 30 years Twilight is still going to be around. What with all remakes going around and such, they'll reach it eventually.

  22. the Narrator

Lol, Zany with you there. I will see it again just to help the cause. It deserves more people.
Acting - 4 stars. a bit cheesy but pretty good.
Story - 4 stars. It was such a simple story yet interpreted so beautifully and the small details and original ideas in every little thing was extraordinary.
Effects - The best I have ever seen. I bet Michael Bay (although puffed up) sh*t a brick at the blue carpet premiere.

And geek, sadly you might be right, but LOTR and Twilight will never ever be on the same playing field. But I forgive you.

No one will remember Avatar in 30 years. Dude, if people still remember Troll 2 after all these years, they'll remember new moon. Good point, geek.

By the way, everyone say hello, to the fake Newkill, one of my flunkies. I'm training him to be a good follower but the bitch won't listen.

  25. GeekStar

Narzion.I have to disagree with you there. In 30 years people will remember New Moon, not to mention the entire Twilight Saga. Those who are infatuated with it,like teen girls, will pass it down to their daughters and if they like it they will pass it down to them and so and so forth. It will never die just like Star Wars and LOTR.Sorry for the comparison by the way.

newkill you can convince yourself that avatar is a bad movie, but you can not convince the rest of us + none will remember new moon in 30 years -and avatar is going to movie history as revolution in 3-D cinema
