    Throwing the wheelchair...
We call that James Cameron humor, as in, he was cracking up writing it, and we're all rolling our eyes.

God damn I hate the look of digital. Even through a home video camera you (or I) can tell the difference between the beautiful, soft look and flow of film as opposed to the harsh, reality tv-ish look of digital. Digital just doesn't have the cinematic quality and "punch" that film has and it's distracting. All I could think about while watching that scene is how staged it felt thanks to digital enhancing everything.
In all honesty, if they had filmed Avatar with film, I'd be willing to bet more people would have liked it.

The more I think about it, the more it scares me that they are filming The Hobbit with such an ugly camera system!

As for the scene - ah whatever, nothing special. I'd be willing to bet anything before & after the bar fight will be pretty cool. To see the earth (which we got a glimpse of in the tv spot for the blu ray) that far in the future should be amazing. In fact, I think it's a pretty important scene to have in the film because it makes you realize the contrast between a sh*tty future earth with no trees, over populated and overly technology reliant vs the amazing young landscape that Pandora has to offer. In other words, it would make the audience....and the characters in the story, appreciate Pandora a LOT more.
