Avatar 4 is not happening says producer Jon Landau
"We are doing two back-to-back, but not a third."
Actress Sigourney Weaver revealed in June that production on the sequels will begin sometime this fall. Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 were initially scheduled for release in December 2014 and December 2015. However, Jon Landau revealed in April that they may not make those proposed release dates. As of now, all we know is Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 are actually happening. When these Pandora-set sequels hit theaters is still uncertain.
Avatar 3 comes to theaters in 2015. The film is directed by James Cameron.

This is a good desicion,.. a trilogy is the best anyway, dont need a fourth... I love the first, its an amazing film, and i think James will pull it off on the other two aswell...

avatar was good dont get me wrong but just watch dances with wolves its pretty much the same storyline, james cameron knows how to make a big budget film but his storylines suck except terminator 2 i think he was thinking on that one, i dont see the big deal with making two more films i mean what is there to tell the humnas lost the aliens got there planet back and sigourney weaver died in the first one bringing her back is f*cking dumb

@ghostman I love Avatar and James Cameron is my favorite filmmaker, so count me in your little club too :P
People complaining about Avatar 1; I'll give you the script at it's core is pretty much Pocahontas in space, but does anybody really think he's not gonna have a more original story for the 2nd one? We're talking about the man who made and wrote Terminator, T2, Aliens, The Abyss, True Lies... all movies that had great original scripts. Even Aliens managed to stand as it's own film without stealing or relying heavily on Ridley's original. Even Titanic which was based on a historical event which everyone already knew had a great script and managed to become a classic.
The Avatar sequels are gonna be great, they're gonna make a ton of money whether you haters see them or not, and Cameron is gonna keep making epic blockbusters.

i won't be seeing 2 or 3 so....
avatar 1 was awful. effects cannot make up for awkward acting and a MISERABLE script, dialogue and story. so why would i go see another 1, 2 or 3 movies?? pass.
