The same fate may be in store for Avatar 2, as producer Jon Landau has revealed that, while production has already started on this anticipated sequel, the amount of work ahead may make it impossible for the film to hit its proposed 2014 release date.
Watch as Jon Landau offers new details about Avatar 2 in this interview with Empire Online
About Avatar 2's 2014 release date, Jon Landau had this to say.
"We're not naming dates, but I think 2014 will be a tough date for us to make. It's about getting it right. Movies make release dates; release dates don't make movies. We've started already. WETA are already working and we have our core team working with us. And we're working on underwater performance-capture. It's going to be like the Floating Mountains in the first movie. It's not going to be all underwater; it's going to be a place we go to, leave and come back to."
Avatar 2 comes to theaters in 2014. The film is directed by James Cameron.

Totally excited, take all the time you need. For all you folks saying cancel it. You don't just create an ENTIRE world and walk away from it. That's extremely hard to do, and it's rarely been done.

James Cameron is a sell out...Also He was "At" the Titanic Not ON it despite what he says unless he's the Other J.C. JESUS CHRIST.

Im glad because delaying it will give them more time to get it absolutley right, not for the same reason everybody else likes it which is because they want it to keep getting delayed until its cancelled...I actually loved the story and want to see them explore the other moons and whatever else they do

Yep gotta agree with the majority, cancel it!!! Only the die hard people who paid to see this 50 times care for a sequel. Movie looked good but story sucked and don't care for anymore sequels

Yeah, this was pushed back to 2016 a while ago if I'm not mistaken, and that was only an estimated date. I'll definitely be first in line to see it but I'm in no rush for a release date. Them taking their time shows how much they care.
