First, James Cameron discussed the fact that he is writing both scripts for Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 together, and that much of this next sequel will take place underwater. He also reveals that we will see new planets in these next two films in the franchise.
"It takes place on Pandora. I'm writing the second and third films together. It completes a three-film story arc. We will see the ocean of Pandora, which we haven't seen at all. That is an eco-system that I am dying to design. It's going to look spectacular. It narrows the spotlight. Instead of the rain forest or nature, it focuses on ocean issues. Because we have a planet that is a blue planet. If you look at it from a distance, earth is a lot more blue than it is brown...Than it is land mass. We are making the oceans unsurvivable for a lot of the species right now. For a lot of reasons. This is the chance to focus a little bit of energy in that direction. And there will be other planets as well, aside from Pandora. It will be a cornucopia. It will be a treat for the eyes."
James Cameron then gave his team of artists most of the created for the imaginative worlds that we will see on screen.
"I get to image things at a fuzzy level. Than I bring in a lot of great artists. They come up with all the amazing creatures and plants."
Finally, James Cameron let fans know that he will not be pushing the environmental aspects of the storyline any harder than he did in the original Avatar.
"This is a continuation of the same story at a greater level. I want people to feel that same sense of excitement about this world, and the fictional Na'vi people. I want them to feel that excitement of discovering a new world. All the things they haven't seen. The package of the first movie will be there. The themes will be there, and played out in a way that I think people can accept. I am not going to become more strident. I am not going to say, "Well, we got away with this much environmental content in the first one, now I am going to double it. I think that would be a mistake. It has to be entertainment first and foremost."
Avatar 2 comes to theaters in 2014. The film is directed by James Cameron.
Avatar 3 comes to theaters in 2015. The film is directed by James Cameron.

If Cameron did a transformers film, bumble bee would bbitch slap sam for cheating on him with megan fox.
PS i love this guy's movies. (james). Hes a story-teller. Unlike other directors, he gives us outstanding fxs as well as great stories and never leaves plot holes. AVATAR is the grestest film ever made in our lifetime. not even star wars can top this. unless star wars ever went the avatar route then we might have a tie. :P and i dont mean in a love story, i mean the cgi landscaping. and a powerhouse event.

Sounds very interesting,.. very curious how he will incorporate new planets.. I believe in this and love the first one... Cameron is one of my faves, he`s as important as Lucas when it comes to innovation in fx..... Bay sucks donkey balls compared to this guy..

@ROFLitschristian What I'm saying is are you gonna watch his movies or invite the guy over to your house for a few beers?
He's a director > He does it well > Let him keep doing it.

@felipe-11 I'm not saying he's a bad director. I mean, he has made the 2 biggest films of all time. I just cannot stand his personality. He's a narcissistic ass monger and someone needs to slap him a few.

@ROFLitschristian I don't know why you hate him, all his films are great (or at least you have to admit "good"), he's incredibly involved with every aspect of the film (from writing to art direction), and he's a complete special effects innovator (almost every film he's made has changed the VFX industry (Abyss, T2, Titanic, Avatar).
The only reason I can imagine people hate on him is cause he said "I'm the king of the world" jokingly when he got the Oscar, which some people took way too seriously...

@jasonkat The great thing about James Cameron is that he knows exactly where to stop without giving people too much or too little of a franchise; he didn't milk Terminator (he had nothing to do with the ones after T2) and he only made a sequel to another great movie that deserved a sequel (Aliens).
If this were Michael Bay we'd already be seeing "Terminator 9: Hot Killer Machines" and "Titanic 3: Revenge of Di Caprio"
