Avalon TV Developing Six New Shows For CBS, Fox, Comedy Central and ABC
The show focuses on a wisecracking cab driver, notes Variety; it's created by British comedian Frank Skinner, who came up with a quirky show about a stubborn cabbie who winds up in wild adventures with his passengers.
Shane is one of six new comedies for the company; another is Blue, a workplace comedy set in a New York suicide hotline center for Fox. It's based on the comedy of Brian Finkelstein.
Also at CBS, Mad, Bad & Dangerous from writer, Henry Cropps; it's about a newly single father who winds up dating women just like his ex-wife.
Honeymooned for Fox is about two pals who wind up on a prepaid honeymoon after one of them is jilted. Brian Keith Etheridge and Michael Glouberman are executive producing.
Standup comic Lynne Koplitz will star in an untitled show that follows her character as she's suddenly forced to serve as the legal guardian of her 8-year-old nephew.
Comedy Central is taking on Evil Genius with comedian Paul F. Tompkins; he'll star and executive produce the show, which revolves around a supervillain who takes over the world, and realizes that it's not easy ruling his kingdom.
And finally, Avalon TV will produce the upcoming ABC reality show, Wake Up Call, hosted by Greg Behrendt.
