Michael Crichton
Michael Crichton, award-winning author and creator of the television show ER has passed away at the age of 66. According to ET Online, Crichton had been battling cancer for some time.

The following statement was released by Crichton's family:
While the world knew him as a great storyteller that challenged our preconceived notions about the world around us -- and entertained us all while doing so -- his wife Sherri, daughter Taylor, family and friends knew Michael Crichton as a devoted husband, loving father and generous friend who inspired each of us to strive to see the wonders of our world through new eyes. He did this with a wry sense of humor that those who were privileged to know him personally will never forget.

Crichton is perhaps best known as being the author of Jurassic Park and The Andromeda Strain. Numerous other novels of Crichton's have also been adapted to film, including Sphere, Timeline, Congo, Rising Sun and The 13th Warrior (based on his novel Eaters of the Dead.

My condolenses go out to Crichton's family and friends during this tragic time. Michael Crichton not only inspired me to be a better writer, but to be a smarter individual as well. He was taken way too early, before his time. He was my favorite author, and will always be. Every book he wrote was a #1 Bestseller. For him to go is as tragically damaging to the world of novels as if Stephen King were to suddenly pass. The Master of the Techno-Thriller's legacy has closed the last chapter, sadly. He was one of the smartest persons in today's world.

    You will be missed.

    RIP

He was my favortie author. I have all his best books, and have read just about all of them. This is tragic. And it's said that he has 1 more book that is to be published posthumously by a ghost writer who'll finish it for a 2009 release date. When it comes to techno-thrillers, nobody else came close to Crichton. R.I.P. He'll be greatly missed.

How Sad........Very Sad...Next to Dan Koontz, Michael Crichton was 1 of my favorite all time authors!

Very sad..He will be missed ...I didn't know he was even sick!

I loved the film "Westworld" (1973)which he directed which stared Yul Brynner, Richard Benjamin, James Brolin!

Do not grieve at the passing of mortality, for life's but a thing of terrible gravity. And the planets gravitate around you, and the stars shall dance about you,and the angels in heaven adore you,and the saints all stand and applaud you.So faraway, so faraway and yet so close.

This is truly a sad day. Two men who worked on Jurassic Park passed this year, Michael Crichton and Stan Winston. I wish his family the best. I hope this will be the last of the legends to pass this year.
