Australia Gets New Release Date

Fox is moving its outback romance Australia back nearly 2 weeks to Nov. 26.

According to Variety, Australia was slated to release Stateside Nov. 14, about 48-hours after its November 13 world preem Down Under, but now the Oz date will also shift to tally with the U.S. Recently, Warner Bros. moved Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince from Nov. 21 to next summer.

The story centers on the saga of an English woman (Nicole Kidman) who comes to remote Australia and falls for a rugged cattle drover (Hugh Jackman), set against the backdrop of World War II.

The film lensed in locations around Oz during 2007, and director Baz Luhrmann is currently shooting pick-ups in Australia with lead thesps.

Fox's date shift will buy Luhrmann a little more more time to finish the film.

Australia was released November 26th, 2008 and stars Shea Adams, Eddie Baroo, Ray Barrett, Tony Barry, Jamal Bednarz-Metallah, Damian Bradford, Bryan Brown, Nathin Butler. The film is directed by Baz Luhrmann.

    Dammit & I actually wanted to see "Australia"...

    WOW I think Entertainment Weekly magazine should have waited to to put out there "Fall Movie Preview Guide" (#1007/1007 - Aug, 22/29, 2008!)!

    Why can't the stuidos movie sh*t like "Disaster Movie" Or "Saw V" to next year!

    It's like every damn film that I want to see keeps getting pushed to 2009! It's getting to the point that I will be "FORCED" to see crap like "Twilight!!!
