Tom Cruise still interested in At the Mountains of Madness
At the Mountains of Madness is set to start shooting this summer. Producer James Cameron has revealed that Tom Cruise is still interested in starring for director Guillermo del Toro. Here's what James Cameron had to say:

"Tom does want to do the picture. I don't think we have a deal with him yet, but we're hoping to get that closed soon. Guillermo is madly working on a new draft of the script. Hopefully we'll be shooting by June or July."

We reported in September that Universal Pictures wants James McAvoy to star in At the Mountains of Madness, although Guillermo del Toro's top choice has always been Tom Cruise.

Earlier this week we also reported on some new details about the creatures in At the Mountains of Madness. You can Click Here! to read that article.

At the Mountains of Madness comes to theaters in 2013. The film is directed by Guillermo del Toro.

If this flys, I'll certainly "Cruise" through the Mountains of Madness! :P

Seriously, I wouldn't mind Cruise in the role; Guillermo Del Toro's one of the few directors whose judgement I trust entirely. It's not an "In Del Toro, we trust" stamp as with Nolan, but I've enjoyed most of his films, for the visuals and for the performances.

Lol @Supes. Despite the slight ego boost just then, we all know that we're all equals here. Hell, you made "MW god" in far less time than it took me, and you have written over a hundred reviews, while I have a measley... 7? Lol.

Trust me, no competition here, as we are all intelligent, unique, and if I may be so bold; good looking users.... well, based off of your avatars anyways. :P

Its about time someone allowed Tom Cruise to do what he does best in a good movie for he gets hated on simply because of his beliefs and lets face it a lot of the greats are a little odd for I believe that this is what makes them great actors

@Dave: Because I can easily see Tom Cruise overacting in any part in the film. And worse yet, that he'd resort to such a performance first. See the silent B&W film from just a few years back to get the '30s feeling. Even with that tone, I still can easily see TC ruining it. Pick unknowns for this one. Let HPL be the star rather than a known actor--Ron Perlman being the exception.

STILL WRITING???? I want to see this NOW damnit. Del Toro is an amazing director. I recently gave Hellboy II The Golden Army a second look (did not sit too well with me on first viewing) and i now find that movie to be highly underappreciated.

@Bane i think you are absolutly right about the casting. Having both Cruice and McAvoy together would be perfect.

@Ownsin, they're just trying to appease me before I get here :P

Seriously, if Del Toro is adamant about Cruise, then it has to be Cruise. It could cause some problems if McAvoy is given the part with the knowledge that he is not the directors first choice (possibly not the second, either).

I dont see why they cant have both Cruise and McAvoy in the flm, one can play William Dyer and the other Danforth, i say sign them both up for the film..

I just wonder if theyll end the movie the same way as the book. Will they actually show what Danforth sees that drives him insane, or leave like in the book and just show him looking back and going crazy without revealing what it is...

@Narrator seriously though-that role in Tropic Thunder was priceless. Made me laugh. Along with Downey's Lazarus.

McAvoy is certainly a great actor and he deserves more attention. But either way, if Del Toro wants Cruise-he's getting Cruise.

  25. The Narrator: The Better Man

@Dave, that role came along... in the form of Tropic Thunder. Lol. His best role ever! (jk)

But yeah, McAvoy is preferred. We don't want this becoming a Cruise vehicle, or it'll be lost to the world of near blockbusters, simply because people did or did not want to see Cruise. I say keep it story driven, and McAvoy would be the actor to do that. Either way though, I'll still see this. F*ck, this is my second most anticipated film of 2012 (behind The Hobbit, of course). Can't wait!

    @dave agreed lol

@ownsin its because 'i agree with supes' roles of the technological tongue quite nicely. lol jk im just tryin to make you more weirded out. Its actually because since he's always on hes usually the first to comment, like @dave said we usually agree with his opinions, so when we get on an article that @supes has commented on and we realize that supes was just thinking the same thing that we were thinking, we don't want to steal his comment so we just agree with him instead.
