IESB.net is reporting that Arnold Vosloo (The Mummy) has signed on to play the villainous role of Zartan in the upcoming G.I. Joe action flick.
Zartan was the chameleon-like baddie who can imitate anyone's physical and vocal traits. He is also the leader of the biker gang the Dreadnoks and he is also a mercenary who works for Destro and Cobra.
The film will be directed by Stephen Sommers and is slated for an August 7, 2009 release.
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra was released August 7th, 2009 and stars Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Christopher Eccleston, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Byung-hun Lee, Sienna Miller, Rachel Nichols, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce. The film is directed by Stephen Sommers.

I know its sad, but in the 90's I was a fan of the Darkman franchise. Still kinda am, and I am amazed Aeinhorn picked up on it. There are similarities here between the two characters. I wonder how Vosloo will pull it off, keeping both roles separated.
I think as of yet, this is one of the best casting decisions of the film. the worst.. Sienna Miller?

Actually, the funny thing is that this isn't the first time that Vosloo has played a character who was a master of disguise that had a problem with sunlight.
Vosloo played the role of Darkman in the two Darkman sequels.
