Arnold Schwarzenegger is rumored to be interested in voicing the lead character, which will be CG animated in the same style as James Cameron's Avatar. A new piece of concept art, a title treatment created to help pitch the film, has been revealed. The second image is from Terminator Salvation, but offers a hint at what this new project will look like. Check it out below.

Hannover House President and Terminator 3000 developer Eric Parkinson discussed the project in length. Here is what he had to say.
"It's in the time being in the hands of Annapurna Productions, whether or not they want to proceed. We reached out to them, communicated with her council and expressed our outline with the basic story structure with the proposed principal creative team and how it can be financed and how Annapurna Productions can make a lot of money with upfront licensing. But there are issues at play that I am not privy to. I think that most people are aware of how long this ticking bomb that this The Terminator licensing exists before it goes back to James Cameron."
About Arnold Schwarzenegger's involvement in the film, Eric Parkinson had this to say.
"I had the opportunity to talk about it with Arnold at the MidCOM Market, when they announced his proposed cartoon series. So I was there and he remembered me from Hemdale and I told him, I am still trying to develop an animated thing, but that's about when the bad news came out. But my feeling is, he is and will always be one of the biggest stars in the world. I think he'd do the voice of the T-800 in this proposed Terminator 3000. We're excited about it, and we think it makes perfect sense and with all due respect to Arnold, I think this would be another great and quick way for him to get another movie out with just a short time in a recording studio.
We can create a character of him in his absolute peak. What we have in mind is something very similar to what James Cameron utilized in Avatar in that we would use motion capture to create the base files of the bulk performers, including The Terminator. But yeah, it would be more of a 3D style motion capture proposed to live actors.
We have a good outline. We have a great story, and we potentially don't want to turn it into a script now, because there's going to be some creative input and we don't want to paint ourselves into a corner and say, no, we envision it a different way. But we've got a pretty good framework for what we think will work. Who knows if this concept fits their overall plan for the franchise? Personally, I think it's kicks-ass and would be a boost to the Terminator brand by introducing a new generation of viewers."

Terminator 3000 is being created on spec, and will need the approval and license of Annapurna Productions before it can proceed any further.
The Terminator was released October 26th, 1984 and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael Biehn, Linda Hamilton, Paul Winfield, Lance Henriksen, Bess Motta, Earl Boen, Rick Rossovich. The film is directed by James Cameron.
Terminator 3000 is in development .

I remember when James Cameron did say in an interview that he is DONE with the Terminator. He expressed the disliking of what they did with the TERMINATOR. I know he was talking about T3 which was CRAP. James would have NEVER even looked at Nick Stahl's direction to play John Conner in T3, and the script was TERRIBLE. The entrance of the TERMINATOR alone was CRAP. The humor was Crap, the walking into a strip joint was crap, and the F*get Glasses he put on was crap. The TERMINATOR is a SERIOUS cyborg with one thing on his chip. It is to PROTECT John Conner, and if you happen to get in his way, he will TERMINATE or BREAK you with force, "PLAIN and SIMPLE." T3 made the Terminator look like he wasn't all that interesting anymore.

@ghostman - Well man, I hate to rain on your parade......but Cameron has made it very clear in the past that his Terminator days are over. He has openly admitted that he has zero interest in making another Terminator film, even when the right go back to him in 2018.
So unless he miraculously changes his mind......Camerons days with the franchise are over.
Its a shame, too, because the direction the series has taken since Cameron's departure has been pathetic.

I enjoyed TSCC but it lacked with T3 and Salvation was slightly better.
I would love to see a series of short films based off on different characters that are in the Terminator Universe. Enough with the main character, we need new blood.

Like James Cameron, Terminator 3, 4, and this do not exist. The story ended with T2.

This should be INTERESTING, if you can't get Arnold for the role of the TERMINATOR, then yeah I suggest, digitize him to make him look like his prime, and just use his voice. Sounds like a PLAN to me. James Cameron should come back and start off where he left from T2, and start this movie from there. That way he can shut off the T3 franchise out of the way, and put HIS vision into it. I still CAN'T believe they hired NICK STAHL as John CONNER in T3. He was a cry baby through the whole film. His acting SUCKED big time, and he didn't even look like a leader even when they try to age him in the future. BIG ASS HEAD screaming "YEAH!" That f*get put a bad taste in the T3 trilogy IMO. Come back James and CLEAN all this up PLEASE. Terminator Salvation was better than T3, but that's it.

@ghostman The thing is, Cameron always thought and still believes that the story arc ended at Terminator 2. In his eyes it was already a finished product, a finished story with no need of further movies (even if they explored the future he created).
It's not that he isn't gonna make it because he doesn't want to or doesn't have time, he isn't gonna make it because he believes the story was finished at T2.

@ghostman - Oh trust me, there is nothing more that I want to see than Cameron getting his hands back on the franchise but he even stated that the series has been damaged beyond repair now. I'm not ruling out that it will never happen but there is a very VERY slim chance that Cameron would make another Terminator film.

You know you want to see Cameron make another Terminator film as bad as I do :)
I'm sure he can't wait to get his hands back on the franchise!

@ghostman - I loved the TSCC show. To bad it was cancelled. Damn shame. I'm afraid though that Cameron taking over the rights and making another Terminator film is just a fantasy.

It was on the right track with the Sarah Connor Chronicles; miss that show :/
I can for 2018 and have Cameron make his Terminator film done right.

@moviemaniac66 - Agreed.
However, if this is just some "straight to DVD/Blu" film, kind of like Ani-Matrix, and it's done *right*, like Last Flight of the Osiris, then I'd be willing to give it a watch.
The actual films, however, desperately need to get back on track.

The animation looks great but I think that the Terminator films are going in the wrong direction.
