Army of Two Videogame Adaptation Coming to the Big Screen

Army of Two
Army of Two
In a story from Variety, Universal Pictures has picked up the movie "rights to the Electronic Arts videogame Army Of Two. Universal hopes "to fast-track the project to begin production in 2009 and has set The Bourne Ultimatum co-writer Scott Z. Burns to write the script."

Selling more than "1 million units since it launched in March" game is "a two-player action contest in which a pair of private military contractors fight their way through a web of intrigue."

"Because people experience the game in pairs, playing two guys who go against the world, Scott and I agreed this format presented an opportunity to make a great buddy film," Burns stated. "The ambiguity of these private military corporations lends weight to an intelligent thriller with relevance to what's going on in the world right now. You have contractors with their own agendas, and two guys whose friendship supersedes all the politics. I told EA right off the bat I wasn't a gamer, and that appealed to them because they didn't want to simply replicate the game."

I couldnt see the rock in this. Rios is to disturbed to be play by him. I agree with SWS playing Salem i think that would be a Master stroke.

What about this for a suggestion for Rios. Javier Bardem ( No country for old Men)
    Could it Work!?!?

I could see SWS and the Rock fitting the two personalities, but I just cant see SWS weilding these large ass guns and snapping guys necks.. not to mention that they were in the Rundown together already.

Hey Vis did you see the teaser trailer of Bioshock 2? I didn't understand it but I'm still excited for the sequel lol. Btw, I played Mass Effect for about 20 minutes and I returned it. I hated the gameplay, the aiming sucked more c*ck than a prostitute on death row. (I don't even know if that made any sense lmao) But anyway, Army of Two should be cool if they make it like the game's plotline of political/military contractors.

Also, I think Tony Scott would be a good director for this film. Agent, nice choice with Zack as director. I agree on that one too.

Sean William Scott and the Rock would be perfect for this film.

Bioshock(personal favorite) is being directed by Gore Verbinski for a 2010 release...STILL WAITING FOR MORE NEWS!(casting, please) ha

I've also been playing mass effect recently...i honestly don't see what the fuss is about. There's points in the game that make me think "wow, this is really something" but then there's others where i want to slit my wrists. The gameplay at times is excrutiating and there's technical errors like pausing in the middle of combat to load or save or some sh*t. Some aspects are really quite annoying, but the graphics and unique quality of it and character customization keep it alive, and i think that's the only thing that got it hyped up. I only bring it up because while I don't think it's as great as the hype(i'd give it prob. an 8.7 at this point, but I haven't finished it), I think it would make an AWESOME film, no doubt. The character development, story, and action are all film worthy. I suggest zack snyder to direct it if it gets made(and it will). I know i suggest him a lot, but come on, his style is perfect for it..that is, if he's into doing a sci-fi flick, but i don't think he'd have a problem with it

There are so many good games that can be made into good movies with the right people onboard; Half-Life, Brothers in Arms, Deus Ex, Battlefield Bad Company, Dead Space, Bioshock, etc. Of course these games have good storylines already.

I agree with u napalm. It is a decent game co-op game. Ive comlpeted the game several times and everytime ive finished ive thought the same "this would be class as a movie". The hole private millitary taking over from the Army, which means...... Screw the rules of war, do what ever takes to get the job done!!!! CANT WAIT!!

  15. The Narrator: The Better Man

Yes. Great news. I can see thus being a thriller, action and "buddy" movie with smart enemies, wise crack jokes, and alot of bullets. Don't mess it up please, however with the co-writer of Bourne 3, it should be good.

They should redeem Doom by making Dead Space into a movie. A good movie. Not stupid cheesy monsters lol.

Exactly Phat, the gameplay was so so but the storyline was pretty cool. The best part about the game is the voice actors of these two guys, they are funny as f*ck.

Well this doesn't surprise me at all, the game was great. Well worth the money I used to rent it.
Don't screw it up, and cast the right people for the roles.

I thought the gameplay was pretty weak, but the story was sick as sh*t.. I kept thinking the whole time how awesome it would be if there really was a private contracting firm like this..
