John Goodman will star as a makeup artist in Argo
The story is based off a 2007 Wired magazine article, which details the intriguing plan hatched by the CIA, the Canadian government, and the movie industry to rescue six American hostages in Iran. The ploy involved convincing the hostage-takers that the hostages were actually crew members doing a location scout in Iran for a Hollywood movie entitled Argo. When the Iranians were convinced of these fake identities, the hostages, who were American diplomats, were allowed to leave the country.
John Goodman will play Oscar-winning makeup artist John Chambers, who helped sell the fake movie ruse to the Iranians. Alan Arkin is portraying Hollywood movie producer Lester Siegel in the drama.
Ben Affleck is directing Argo from a screenplay by Chris Terrio, which he adapted from the Joshuah Bearman Wired magazine article. George Clooney and Grant Heslov are producing through their Smoke House Productions banner.
No production schedule was given for Argo.
Argo was released October 12th, 2012 and stars Ben Affleck, Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin, John Goodman, Victor Garber, Tate Donovan, Clea DuVall, Scoot McNairy. The film is directed by Ben Affleck.

I would think a lot of great actors will be lining up to work with Ben, especially after the success of "The Town".

@thedude-abides I feel the same. He has tremendous potential behind the camera. Which reminds me, I need to pick up the Blu Rays of both Gone Baby Gone and The Town.

Affleck should just stay behind the camera from now on. He's a tremendous actor, and unfairly scrutinized for being just another pretty face, in my opinion. But if I had my choice of Affleck the actor vs. Affleck the director, I'd take Affleck the director every time. That's not to say he's a bad actor; that's to say he's a f*cking great director.
