Since we were the only media outlet on the planet not invited to the Land of the Lost set, we have to rely on our good buddies over at IESB for scoops like this: H.R. Pufnstuf and Sigmund and the Sea Monsters are headed to the big screen!

While visiting Universal Studios, where Land of the Lost is taking up more studio space than any film before it, IESB got a chance to talk with both Sid and Marty Krofft about their future projects. When asked if they were planning on bringing any more of their television series to the big screen, Marty stated, "We are working on it, we are close on Pufnstuf and Sigmund." At this point and time, both brothers are in the final stages of finalizing this deal with a certain studio. Exactly which studio that is remains to be seen though, as they were tight lipped on the subject.

As most of you know, H.R. Pufnstuf was about a goofy Dragon that held reign over Living Island as Mayor along with his pet boy Jimmy and their magic golden flute Freddy. Sigmund and the Sea Monsters revolved around a young beach bum kid named Johnny and his brother Scott. They discover a quirky pile of seaweed named Sigmund and adopt him as their pet.

Land of the Lost is a big screen adaptation of Sid & Marty Krofft's popular Saturday morning live action kids show, which revolved around a father and his two children being swept away in a giant cave earthquake and landing in a realm of dinosaurs and Sleestaks. Will Ferrell and Danny McBride star in the update, which will be hitting theaters July 17th of next year.

Land of the Lost was released June 5th, 2009 and stars Will Ferrell, Anna Friel, Danny McBride, Jorma Taccone, John Boylan, Matt Lauer, Bobb'e J. Thompson, Sierra McCormick. The film is directed by Brad Silberling.
