Anthony Hopkins to Star as Odin in Thor
Anthony Hopkins has signed on to star in Marvel Studios' upcoming adaptation of Thor, which Kenneth Branagh is directing.

According to Variety, Hopkins will play Odin, the father of Thor and Loki. Chris Hemsworth is playing Thor, and Tom Hiddleston plays Loki.

Natalie Portman is also set to play Thor's love interest, Jane Foster.

Scripted by Mark Protosevich and Zack Stentz, the film tracks partly disabled med student Dr. Donald Blake's discovery of his Norse god alter ego, the hammer-swinging Thor.

Production is set to begin in January, for a theatrical release May 20, 2011.

Thor was released May 6th, 2011 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Stellan SkarsgÄrd, Kat Dennings, Clark Gregg, Idris Elba. The film is directed by Kenneth Branagh.

    DUDE,, I told everyone that would be who Hopkins would be. And I am not sure who Chris Hemsworth is. But even more so, that comic in the post above... I OWN...... lol,, the comic story then was how Thor was told by Odins eye that was lost, how Asguard when through Ravok, which is the end of days,, but it was reborned. Irnoicly when the story ends, it shows that the burning ruin of the old Asguard was the bright star when Jesus was born..

    I don't know... thought Hollywood could screw this up big time. I'll go with Chad on this one. Even with a good story, it looked bad for getting asses in seats that weren't into the comics, but you throw that many names in it... it's going to be hard to ignore.
