Anthony Hemmingway to Direct George Lucas' Red Tails?

So, Spike Lee knows who's directing a George Lucas project and he told Roger Ebert. Ebert just posted the full transcript of his interview with filmmaker Spike Lee on his website and Lee made an interesting remark on who would direct one of George Lucas' passion projects, the World War II Tuskegee Airmen film, Red Tails.

Lee, while talking about meeting some of the Tuskegee Airmen for his new film, Miracle at St. Anna, Lee mentioned Lucas' Red Tails is getting off the ground and that the director will be Anthony Hemmingway,

George Lucas is finally doin’ his Tuskegee Airmen film, Red Tails. He’s gonna produce it and a young African- American director, Anthony Hemingway, is gonna direct it. He’s done several episodic TVs, and is a young director so I’m looking forward to that and hopefully Miracle at St. Anna with Red Tails coming’ up will generate more films to show the untold story about the participation. A lot of people know about fact that the Nisei, they were Japanese American unit that fought in Europe, an all Japanese-American unit that fought in Europe for United States of America against the Nazis. That movie’s never been done either so there’s a whole lot of stuff.

This hasn't been ocnfirmed, as of yet, and we'll keep you up to date on any developments surrounding this new project.

Red Tails was released January 20th, 2012 and stars Bryan Cranston, Cuba Gooding Jr., Terrence Howard, Daniela Ruah, Michael B. Jordan, Aml Ameen, Tristan Wilds, Ne-Yo. The film is directed by Anthony Hemingway.
