Ant-Man Script Nearly Complete

Ant-Man script by Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish nearing completion
Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish are currently in Austin, Texas for the South by Southwest festival, where their movie Attack the Block premiered. The filmmakers are also working on the screenplay for the new Marvel Studios movie Ant-Man, and they revealed the script is nearly finished. Here's what Joe Cornish had to say.

"We're currently working on it, not right now. But the day after tomorrow we'll go to Los Angeles."

Edgar Wright elaborated further, revealing their initial treatment existed before the formation of Marvel Studios, which was done before his second movie, Hot Fuzz.

"We kind of have a stock response now, it's true to say we've been writing it in some form. Weirdly, the treatment for Ant-Man exists before Marvel Studios. There was a treatment that Joe and I did when Artisan had the kind of lower-rung Marvel properties and we wrote a treatment for it that exists before Hot Fuzz. Basically, when I met Kevin Feige I said, 'Oh, did you ever get our Ant-Man treatment?' and he had never read it so we submitted it properly like four years later. So it's something me and Joe have genuinely been working on for nearly a decade and at some point we'll finish the script."

It isn't clear if this will be Edgar Wright's next project yet.

Ant-Man comes to theaters November 6th, 2015. The film is directed by Edgar Wright.

  1. the Narrator

Ultron should only be in an Avengers film. It's too powerful for mere Ant-man and The Wasp to take down. We don't want to pull a FF2:RotSS on fans here (Galactus as a giant shroom-like cloud). Definitely save Ultron, for a sequel, and maybe (and this is if the elements are right) a Kree-Skrull war in the third outing. That's still far ahead though, so no proper use talking about it when Whedon still has his hands full with the first film.

@ejk1...Yeah, they never really showed wat the rest of Lokis grand scheme was,as for the Masters of Evil, it just ened with Zemo talkin to a shadowy figure that " promised him the world"...im thinking its either Red Skull or Thanos

@bane5000 Things to come in the cartoon are the following:

    A Skrull invasion
Cosmic Cube craziness which could include Thanos
    Loki mischief
    Ultron

@bane5000@bawnian-dexeus Yeah, I was hoping Ultron would be the villain for The Avengers in a sequel but its likely he'll be the villain for the Ant-Man movie.

@jptheredskull...I like the cartoon, cant wait to see what happens after they captured Kang and he tells them that something worse is coming, and they show the reproggammed Ultron robot before the episode ends

@bane5000 Hopelully, If this film is anything like the epic The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes Cartoon, there will be Ultron(s) as opposed to Ultron.

@bawnian-dexeus...There was a rumor at one point that Hank and Janet would cameo as the after credits scene for The Avengers, and it would show them working on Ultron, imagine if thats whats shown....

@dan1 I like Young Justice, just not as much as The Avengers. I don't have a one or the other attitude when it comes to things of this nature.

This is fantastic news! I am really interested to see his take on this universe. And some of those lower-rung characters are pretty great in their own little ways.

@ejk1 Hey, I like Young Justice! :P (only part I don't like is the "hello, megan" thing Miss Martian does all the time, that sh*t is grating).

@Scruffnutz89 I'll be 30 in two months, and I watch The Avengers cartoon (IMO, it's better than Young Justice), so you have nothing to feel bad about.

@narrator Agreed on what they should do. Pym is a very interesting character that needs to have all aspects of his nature explored.

Okay the script is almost complete haven't started shooting haven't started production barely have a cast but yet it comes this year regardless of all the cgi they have to do soo I think they might want to change that other than that I can't wait I've been watching the avengers series on disney and im 22 but its amazing to say the least really wish they would of put ant in the avengers movie but can't wait he is a great superhero with a amazing story to tell!!

  21. the Narrator

They had better capture the mature, somewhat dark, and emotional essence of Hank Pym, and not make this one of Wrights simplistic comedies.

@bawnian-dexeus Let's hope for more than 10 seconds

@edwardwood Ant-Man is being set up to release alongside Iron Man 2 in 2013 supposedly in place of The Incredible Hulk 2 which apparently has no plans to be made right now.

  25. J.P.

@ejk1 More than likely thats how it'll go. Still, they could have had Hank Pym in the Avengers and have the Ant Man film focus on Scott Lang, the second Ant-Man.

@jptheredskull I think it will tie-in to The Avengers universe, and be between the movie and its sequel.

@ejk1 the Ant-Man movie will tie-in to the Avengers movie. Based on comments on the film by Edger Wright, it's possible Pym May even be a member of S.H.I.E.L.D.
