Another Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the Works?

If you want to see those heroes in a half-shell in live action again, you just may have gotten your wish. Kevin Eastman, the co-creator of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series confirmed on Heavy Metal that a new live-action Turtles film is being developed.

Yes, it is true. Although the CGI film did well enough to warrent a sequel, there has been much talk between Imagi and Warners to do a better "re-invention" (newest Hollywood buzzword) of the TMNT's, in a live action film--like what was done with Batman. Back to basics, back to the origin and the intro of the Shredder, etc...there have been talks, trips to Northampton to talk to Mr Laird, and discussions with the original "first" TMNT film director Steve Barron to come back and do it right--but no official word yet...will keep you posted. Best, Kevin

We'll be sure to keep you updated on this potential new film as soon as more information comes to light.

I love how EVERY new superhero movie or adaption of a comic book says they are going to do something along the lines of the new BATMAN. Every one says it, but do they live up to it. We'll see...

It would be nice to see the TMNT incarnated as the original comics detailed. I am a fan of the past and I would like to see this done right. I definitely think that CGI should play a big part in this. Place a cast of martial arts stunt men in blue and green body suit to motion capture their movements then animate the four heroes on the half shell over the stunt actors. The same would go for Splinter. They should be short in height, 4'11" at the most...The story should be gritty. The Shredder should be ruthless. His antics should be a combination of Joker meets Shogun. I'd like to see an origin story of the Shredder and his ill fated friendship with Splinter's master. Have the turtles actually using their weapons right with precise strikes. Spare the goofy comedy. Let that carry the undertone when things begin to get too dark. There should be a spiritual element to it with a keen sense of integrity to the Japanese arts. Overall, there are some things, some themes I can see them going with that could make this movie the one we Turtle fans have been waiting for with the right blending.

I used to be a huge fan of the Turtles as a kid so naturally, I'm very much interested in this. I just hope that they keep the cheese to a minimum and aim the film towards a more older audience; the original fans!
