Another Amityville Horror Remake?

Another Amityville Horror Remake?Bloody-Disgusting has found out that Weinstein Company and Dimension Films are planning another remake of The Amityville Horror, with a director already in talks to helm.

Here is what they had to say:

I just finished wiping away the tears of laughter as I just discovered that the Weinstein Company and Dimension Films are planning on remaking The Amityville Horror...again. Andrew Douglas directed the 2005 reboot produced by Platinum Dunes that grossed over $100m at the box office worldwide. I guess five years in the new 25? Our sources also tell us that there just might be a director already in talks to develop the project. Knowing Dimension Films, I'd expect this project to start and stop at least a dozen times before it ultimately fails. Alas horror fiends, don't stress it no matter how idiotic this sounds.

The original 1979 film was based on a true story that was claimed by writer Jay Anson. The film is about a large house on the coast of Long Island where newly weds George and Kathy Lutz and their three children move into the house that they hope will be their dream house but it ends up in terror. Not aware that a murder took place in the house several years back, George and Kathy turn to their family priest Father Delaney who believes the house is haunted and performs an exorcism on the house. But the evil spirit in the house causes him to become blind and makes him very ill. George and Kathy with the help of another priest Father Bolen and a police detective they face the fears of the house, but not knowing the spirit is planning to possess George and then the children...

Hollywood, I was with you with all of the remakes and sequels you have been doing, because some of them weren't half bad.

But now, you're doing a remake of a movie that already has a remake. Are you f*ckingkidding me? I hope that the people who started the movie business would walk out of their graves and kick the sh*t out of every hollywood executive until they come to their senses.

Wow.A remake of a remake.Four or five years down the line they'll do it all over again.

I tried to send a scrpit of mine in for a little bit of an original story line.Wanna know what they told me.It was too long and would take too much money to produce.

Bullsh*t.Stick with the remakes then.As of now I will not go to a movie theater.Hollywood can kiss my ass.

Wow can they just leave it alone. The 2005 one was good, the original was also just as good.

I thought the ending of the 2005 film was great. There is more talent out there but Hollywood seems bent on dismissing people like us and just relaunch everything in sight.
One would think a sequel would do better, if a mighty if a director got attached he/she shouldn't listen to the big bosses and just make it into a sequel.

I think they figure that a remake will sell better than an original film, they don't wanna take chances I suppose. Which seems silly because District 9 did well, adaptations of things do well like Transformers or Harry Potter/Twilight, Spiderman, Iron Man, LotRs, Pirates of the Carribean, etc. It's not like it's that hard. Usually the films we get that are original end up being classics. I mean, just look at The Matrix, Boondock Saints, V For Vendetta, Terminator films, Star Wars, Monsters Inc., Toy Story, Indiana Jones films, Gladiator, Liar Liar, 300 and many more. Lots of risky films that are now considered great films.

But like the band Chasing Victory says in one of their songs, "don't let it go to your head it's all been done before". So maybe they feel there isn't any originality left perhaps? Who knows. There are a lot of people out there who write, especially members of this site who have s of their own that will probably never see the light of day. Could you imagine the day where execs and piracy came to a stand still, where execs do it for the art of doing it rather than making a huge profit, and piraters feel that maybe this piece of art is worth buying at such a good price thanks to the execs lol. Wouldn't that be nice?

i also agree with everyone on here so far

with all the things going on in this country financial wise, they wanna throw away more money at a remake of a remake of an original film, in hopes that maybe this one will come out better...just do a sequel or put the money to good use of an original film and stop playing it on the safe side with the remakes already, sheesh lol

gotta love/hate hollywood now a days, they make u laugh and mad at the same time :]

Lmao... a remake of a remake of an original? I'm confused now. I have a bad feeling about this... after The Crow remake, they'll remake it again a couple years later lol.
