Andrzej Bartkowiak Replaces Enda McCallion on Doom

Doom: According to Variety, Universal Pictures has hired Polish director Andrzej Bartkowiak ("Cradle 2 The Grave") in a pay-or-play pact to helm the studio's upcoming vidgame adaptation, Doom. He replaces the film's original director, Enda McCallion, who the studio said is bowing out due to personal reasons.

Change in directors will have no effect on the film's production schedule, with principal photography skedded for a mid-October start.

A former cinematographer on pics like Lethal Weapon 4 and Thirteen Days, Bartkowiak's recent helming credits include Exit Wounds and Romeo Must Die

The storyline for Doom is loosely based on the current id Software and Activision videogame, "Doom 3" (mad scientists + bad virus = zombie hacking).>

Doom was released October 21st, 2005 and stars Dwayne Johnson, Karl Urban, Rosamund Pike, Ben Daniels, Razaaq Adoti, Richard Brake, Al Weaver, Dexter Fletcher. The film is directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak.
