Andrew Stanton Gives Updates on John Carter of Mars

It seems that Pixar and one of its mainstays are going live-action for an upcoming project. Sci Fi Wire recently spoke with WALL-E director Andrew Stanton, who talked about his latest project, John Carter of Mars

"[I'm] deep into it... I'm on my next draft of it. We're in preproduction art-wise, and we're starting to talk to actors. So it's full bore."

Stanton confirmed that Carter, based on the books by Edgar Rice Burroughs, will be live-action. "Yeah, I think that's the only way," he said. "I mean, there are so many creatures and characters that half of it's going to be CG whether you want it to be [or not], just to realize some of these images that are in the book. But it will feel real. The whole thing will feel very, very believable."

John Carter comes to theaters March 9th, 2012 and stars Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Bryan Cranston, Mark Strong, Willem Dafoe, CiarĂ¡n Hinds, Dominic West, Thomas Haden Church. The film is directed by Andrew Stanton.

Sounds great. It will be interesting to see Pixar's transition to live-action. This, and Brad Bird's '1906.'
