Andre Benjamin is set to star in the comedy, Semi-Pro for New Line Cinema.

The Outkast singer will star opposite Will Ferrell in the film set in the world of the now-defunct American Basketball Association. The Hollywood Reporter says it follows Jackie Moon (Ferrell), the owner-coach-player of the fictional Flint Michigan Tropics; Moon must lead his team on a desperate attempt to make it to the big leagues. Benjamin plays a self-styled ladies' man who is the best player on the team; Woody Harrelson already has been cast.

New Line executive Kent Alterman stepped down to make his directorial debut on the Scot Armstrong script. Production on Semi-Pro is set to start next year.
