An 'X-Men' Vs. 'Justice League' Movie Could Happen Soon

If 21st Century Fox manages to acquire Time Warner, it will put Marvel properties such as 'X-Men' under the same roof as Warner Bros. and DC Comics.
Earlier today, the Rupert Murdoch-owned 21st Century Fox put in a massive $80 billion takeover bid to purchase Time Warner, a move which would have put Fox superhero properties such as X-Men and The Fantastic Four under the same roof as Warner Bros.' DC properties Justice League and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Although Time Warner rejected the bid, New York Times sources reveal that Fox will try to acquire the media conglomerate again.

If this deal were to happen, it would make Disney's acquisitions of Marvel and LucasFilm, which both cost $4 billion apiece, look like child's play in comparison, with the Fox/Time Warner deal valued at 10 times more than both the Marvel and LucasFilm deals combined. Of course, even if the 21st Century Fox/Time Warner sale does go through, there still may be a number of legal issues to sort out before X-Men and Justice League would face each other on the big screen.

Aside from a X-Men vs. Justice League movie, Business Week points out that the potential merger could be used to answer some questions that have plagued comic book fans for decades. Marvel's Quicksilver could possibly square off against DC's speedy equivalent, The Flash, to find out which is truly the fastest superhero, if both companies come together. The elastic abilities of Marvel's Mr. Fantastic and DC's Plastic Man could also be put to the test on the big screen, along with a telepathic showdown between Marvel's Professor X and DC's Martian Manhunter and a test of strength between DC's Superman and Marvel's Silver Surfer.

Are you dying for an X-Men vs. Justice League movie? Would you like to see any of the other Marvel vs. DC cinematic showdowns? Chime in with your thoughts below.

X-Men: Days of Future Past was released May 23rd, 2014 and stars Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page. The film is directed by Bryan Singer.

Justice League comes to theaters in 2018 and stars Gal Gadot.

Doubt it will ever actually happen... I kind of hope it doesn't to be honest

Not that I believe this has a snowball's chance in hell of happening but if it DID, I'd say they need to be smart about it and follow the Marvel model of building a storyline slowly with minor crossover excursions with a good script and then an eventual crossover apocalypse for the payoff.

all base on a failed deal, I thought this was going to be Marvel's Avengers being move for the X-Men Apocalypse, wasting my time.

  4. The marjority of Marvel Fans do not care about DC crossovers. What we're waiting for is X-Men crossovers with the Marvel-Disney owned base - the Avengers, namely. That's only going to get more wishes after GotG comes out and throes Kree into the mix - you do that, you need your X-Men in the picture.

Why not put as a title 21st Century trying to buy the DC/Warner.
    That title is stupid

Bullsh*t. Neither side wants this. Does anyone really think DC or Marvel will risk its respective characters to look inferior to its opposite? Lawsuits and injunctions will arrive faster that Quicksilver or Flash could ever hope of being.

@therealGoku I think you're right. There is no way that this will happen.

That would be a bad idea. Just have X-Men and F4 reverted back to Marvel and let Sony lose Spidey.

@magnetic-eye Finally, I agree with that in terms of Marvel characters and their handling by Fox Studios.

They have a hard enough time making avengers movies and introducing new characters. This won't happen

  20. Magnetic-Eye

No, dumb idea all round. I would just rather see the film rights of all Marvel characters revert back to Marvel and have MARVEL STUDIOS represent their own characters on screen.

I have nothing but contempt for Fox adaptations of Marvel characters with their strange alternate re-imaginings which bear no resemblance to the comic book counterparts, nor do they respect Marvels' original source material.

These crossovers have been done in the comics before, and personally they never interested me to even buy the comic.
Bringing it to the movies is just a waste of money and probably would cost the controlling studio more money to make said movies just because they would have to pay the actors stupidly huge salaries to be in them.
If this was to be done, it would have to be a vote by the fans for which character prevails over another, then the studio films two versions of the battle and when the vote comes in they release the version that the fans voted for....then on the DVD release, they add the other version so that fans pay even more money to see that movie....or not because they would download it the next day.
If you want to see some good vs. videos, look up Predator vs. Wolverine on youtube, that will link you to some good fight scenes.

I would rather see x-men vs avengers movie. It's possible that x-men can square off with the justice league but DC and Marvel are two different properties but this is interesting. Way to go 21th century Fox to think outside the box. (Don't make this happen btw)

Ha... yea right. Justice League can barely get off the ground. I'm 20. By the time they make that movie, my kids will have kids. (I don't have kids by the way)
