American Hardcore Dives Onto DVD February 20
Synopsis:
An intense, aggressive documentation of the rise and fall of the 1980s punk-rock scene, American Hardcore arrives on DVD February 20, 2007 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The story is told by the pioneers themselves, including members of Circle Jerks, Misfits, Bad Religion, Black Flag, Bad Brains, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Adolescents, Guns N' Roses, Descendents, Corrosion of Conformity, Dead Kennedys, Suicidal Tendencies, Youth Brigade and many more. The music they created, and the bands whose success they enabled, gave voice to a tribe of young people angry enough to seek a better world, or just angry enough to raise some hell.
With "mind-blowing archival footage" (Larry Carroll, MTV.com), American Hardcore "takes a sharp look at the crash-and-burn noise bands that pioneered U.S. punk in the shadow of Reagan" (Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly). Directed by Paul Rachman (Four Dogs Playing Poker, Drive Baby Drive), the film was an official selection of the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. American Hardcore will be available for the SRP of $24.96.
In the Reagan era of the early 1980s, misfits around the country struggled to find an outlet for their isolation, anger and disillusionment. The rise of the hardcore punk-rock movement began with pioneers like Black Flag, Bad Brains and Minor Threat-the success of whom enabled Nirvana, Beastie Boys and the Red Hot Chili Peppers to reach millions. American Hardcore tells the story via those who lived it. Participants include members of Circle Jerks, Misfits, Bad Religion, Black Flag, Bad Brains, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Adolescents, Guns N' Roses, Descendents, Corrosion of Conformity, Dead Kennedys, Suicidal Tendencies, Youth Brigade and many more. American Hardcore is a loud, explosive and real documentary.
American Hardcore was directed by Paul Rachman, who also produced with Steven Blush.
