Amanda Seyfried Reveals Mamma Mia! Sequel Moving Forward

One of the biggest sleeper hits of 2008 will indeed get a sequel, according to one of the film's stars. BBC Radio 1 recently spoke with actress Amanda Seyfried, who revealed, in a mysterious way, that a sequel to the 2008 musical Mamma Mia! is in the works.

"I've been talking to some insiders and it's not something that they haven't been working on. I don't actually know anything other than that."

Seyfried also added that the music of Abba would still be included in a follow-up film.

"I know it's still going to be Abba music, because what else would it be? Come on, I wouldn't do Mamma Mia 2 without Benny and Bjorn."

Guys, it wasn't a bad movie. I have seen much worse. It WAS a chick flick, but it wasn't a bad chick flick.

My wife is going to be completely overjoyed with this news. She's an ABBA freak. Good to see that Amanda Seyfried is still interested.

Hopfully the get the whole cast back and keep the feel the same, or it will not do well. Remember Grease 2? Egads! They need everybody back. The story could go a million diferent places. You have the hotel subplot, the newly weds, the young unmarried couple, Julie Walters and her new boyfriend. It could go anywhere. There was a lot of set up for one of many stories.

The first was based on the Broadway musical, and the next one won't be. Simple answer.

Diaigma raises a great question. How are they doing the sequel, and where's it going to go. As long as Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Julie Walters, and company return, and ABBA music remains a must, then I'm all game. I just wonder where it could possibly go...

    Question. How?

The first was based on a Broadway musical.
What would the second one be based on? Something out of someone's butt? :P
