Alvin and the Chipmunks was one of last year's biggest surprise hits. So you don't have to wonder too long about why 20th Century Fox is jumping head first into a sequel. Said to be about the Chipmunks female cousins, Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 has been given the official release date of March 19th, 2010.

20th Century Fox also announced the release date for a couple of their other highly anticipated films. It looks like the long awaited videogame adaptation Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li will hit early next year on February 27th, 2009.

And then there is 12 Rounds, which pairs John Cena with director Renny Harlin. This magnificent beast, most likely the best film of next year, will be released on March 13th, 2009. That's a mere week before the impending doom of the Chipmunks.

Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Squeakuel was released December 23rd, 2009 and stars Zachary Levi, David Cross, Jason Lee, Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler, Jesse McCartney, Amy Poehler, Anna Faris. The film is directed by Betty Thomas.

Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li was released February 27th, 2009 and stars Kristin Kreuk, Chris Klein, Neal McDonough, Robin Shou, Moon Bloodgood, Josie Ho, Taboo, Michael Clarke Duncan. The film is directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak.

12 Rounds was released March 27th, 2009 and stars John Cena, Aidan Gillen, Ashley Scott, Steve Harris, Brian J. White, Gonzalo Menendez, Taylor Cole, Kyle Russell Clements. The film is directed by Renny Harlin.
