Last week, Kodjoe announced on his Twitter account that he is part of the cast.
Here is what he had to say:
Boris Kodjoe: : I play the leader of the survivors in LA. Milla Jovovich's character, Alice, is roaming the world looking for survivors and she's wound up in LA, which has been burning for three years. She comes across an LA jail surrounded be these half-dead, uhh...
Zombies?
Boris Kodjoe: : Yeah, they're those monsters, what are they called? Anyway, she comes across the jail and there's a couple of survivors and she lands on top of the roof and partners up with me to fight the guys that are coming after them. We're trying to get all of the survivors out of the jail to safety. We're starting next week, actually.

Jason O'mara (I think that's his name) is rumored to be returning as Wesker. Anyhow, this is great news! I can't wait! I really hope that Sienna Guillory opts to return for the franchise, though.

Wow Wentworth, this automatically just got way better. Semi-big actor in a movie like this... I would have to agree with you guys about the Chris Redfield casting.
And if it's these two -brother and sister, do you think they will put in Wesker?

I've wanted to see Wentworth finally in some movie, but this doesn't seem as a good choice.

Miller's character was in 2 different jails in Prison Break. Now in Resident Evil he's going to be in one infested with zombies. LOL
I could have sworn the director in an interview said that they were going to lean towards the videogame RE5 for this one.

No Ali Larter's coming back. In Extinction, I don't know if it was her or the writing of her character that made me hate her in that movie. Claire doesn't act like that. And finally, Michael Scofield gets to be in a movie. I miss Prison Break.

Finally! Concrete news that Ali Larter is Redfield again! OK my interest in this sequel just skyrocketed. And I'm not kidding lol. Looks like they will be keeping the Alaska mission afterall. My prayers for this movie have been answered.
BTW I couldn't see anyone else as Claire besides Ali.
