A new NBC reboot of a classic detective series has added another to its cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alan Tudyk (Dollhouse, Firefly) has signed on to the NBC pilot The Rockford Files.

Tudyk will star alongside Dermot Mulroney, who will play the title character Jim Rockford, a cynical, hard-nosed cop who can show a bit of a softer side at times. Tudyk will portray Detective Dennis Becker, a friend of Rockford who is slightly embarrassed since most of the department hates his friend.

House creator David Shore wrote the pilot for the new series, which will be based on the original series The Rockford Files that ran from 1974 to 1980.

If I were the producer I would bring James garner into the Rocky role.

Ha, now he's a great choice. He and Dermot will be perfect together, I've known about the remake for over a month and a half. I noticed the auditing back then, I nearly applied for the part. Thank goodness I didn't, I don't have the cash to fly anywhere at the moment.
