Alan Arkin has signed on to star in the comedy adaptation, Get Smart for Warner Bros. Pictures.

The Oscar winner will be reuniting with Steve Carell in the big-screen version of the 60's TV show, directed by Peter Segal. The Hollywood Reporter says Arkin will play the chief of CONTROL, the organization that fights the evil forces of KAOS; Edward Platt played the character in the 1965 TV series. Carell is on board as secret agent Maxwell Smart, with Anne Hathaway as Agent 99. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Terrence Stamp also have been cast.

A 2008 release has been scheduled for Get Smart.

Get Smart was released June 20th, 2008 and stars Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway, Dwayne Johnson, Alan Arkin, Terence Stamp, Terry Crews, David Koechner, James Caan. The film is directed by Peter Segal.
