In a story from Variety, DreamWorks has tapped Al Gough and Miles Millar (both men created Smallville) to write I Am Number Four. The script will be an adaptation of the book by James Frey and Jobie Hughes.

Michael Bay is going to produce and possibly direct the film.

The property was published by HarperCollins Children's Books. It is about nine aliens who come "to Earth, disguised as teenagers, when their home planet is destroyed."
